I've used Spirit several times and will be using them again soon. The service has always been wonderful.

Look into some baggage policy changes coming into effect soon, though. I believe they will be charging for checked luggage by summertime.

We're actually flying Spirit tomorrow out of Detroit for the first time. Have heard it's a no-frills type of airline similar to Southwest so I'm not expecting too much.:goodvibes

Anyone heard of the latest rumours about baggage charges, and not being guaranteed that they'll let you take that second suitcase aboard, even if you paid for it? :confused3 I saw a very brief thread a while back about this, so I stopped even looking at Spirit for the flight I need home at the end of our Aug trip.

Sammi ... please be sure to post your experience when you return from your trip. :)

when we went to Myrtle Beach last October and was quite happy with them! Reliable service, nothing fancy. Free pop. lol I think there were cookies too, can't remember! It was only for an hour and a half the flight so we didn't need much to entertain us. We flew out of Detroit and it's the first airline you see when you walk in the door. It was great. And now that you've posted this, I just booked our flights for Disney in September! thanks!

Sure will Maryliz!I just finished packing as both of my neighbours on each side of me just left after bringing donuts and coffee to say bye!

Yes I also read about the 2nd bag but it does say that it's 1st come 1st serve so we plan on being there 3 hours before our flight anyway, as that's what they recommend for Detroit airport. I also went on to check our seats and the plane is only about half full so I don't think there's anything to be concerned about on this flight.:)

Have a great trip, Sammi. :goodvibes And thanks in advance for the info.

For the checked luggage increase:
You can check one bag for free. Your second bag will be $10.
At least the flight is cheap!

I believe that after a certain date this will change, though, and all checked luggage will have a fee.

Someone might want to confirm this information as I think I remember reading it at some point while researching my trip (didn't apply to my dates, so didn't really absorb the info).

Just a heads up for furture Spirit travellers:goodvibes

AAAHHHH . . . you're coming back? I hadn't thought of that:upsidedow ;)

No, I'm afraid you were right . . . looks like it's an extra $40.:sad2:

I may never want to return home after 9 days in heaven, but my boss might want me to come back!
:rotfl:

We returned just last week and flew Spirit for the first time.:) We were very pleased with their service and will gladly fly with them again should the need arise.Yes it does cost $10.00 for 1 extra bag but I found that not to be a big deal. The aircraft both going down and returning were really quite new and very comfortable for both DH and I. The flight attendants and the captains of both flights were really great.:thumbsup2

We had a little "incident" on the way down as we were getting comfy in our seats 2 TSA agents and a policeman boarded the plane and went directly to the back....next thing we knew they were escorting an older man out and the captain then came on and told us not to worry as the man had gone through security with 2 lighters on him.......how he got passed through is another thought! And then when we thought everything was ok the three came back on and started checking on hands and knees below the seat he had sat on...by this time I was a little concerned...especially when the guy came back! Anyway that held us up for a bit and then there was a thunderstorm in Detroit too so that also held us back...about 1 hour in all but we enjoyed our flight both there and back and our fare was very good too!:yay: Very good airlines!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the update. I had never heard of this airline. Might be worth paying for the luggage if the price is right!!!:cool1:

I signed up for their emails and got a great rate of 1 cent down and $90.00 return!! Not too shabby at all!:thumbsup2 :cutie:
