"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

I've never seen an airplane with pictures on it like that Frontier plane with the penguins. Well, at least not in person. Cute!

It was really cute and certainly out of the ordinary!

I really like Port Orleans Riverside. I stayed there once during our first mother-daughter trip in September 2010. We were in the mansion area. It's so pretty there! I could definitely imagine how exciting it would be to see beautiful greenery and flowers when you haven't seen it in a while!

I love leaving winter behind and seeing trees and flowers in bloom! It's wonderful seeing Spring! Even better is the fact that we seem to be having an early Spring here and flowers here are starting to pop up too :)

I hope the surprise in the room works out for Caitlin.

It didn't end up going off quite as I had planned but she did like it :)

Nice pics.
We found it very frustrating that the boat only filled half-way.
Especially in the evenings when the line was very long.
With the amount of boats they had running, you'd think they'd run one boat to FQ and another to Riverside.
That way each boat would not have an extra stop, it would fill faster, and the trip would be shorter.
But what do I know? :confused3

Thank you. :)

I think they limit how many boats are on the water at a time and so thats why they share. We were only there a couple days but that was the longest wait we had so we couldn't complain. I'm sure its a harder wait when you have tired little ones in tow.

We were finally in Downtown Disney somewhere I had been dreaming about shopping since we started planning this trip  Our previous readers will know I am a huge fan of the Crush store and TrenD so I was hoping to get some spring/summer clothes shopping done so I took advice from the trusty Tom Habberford from my favorite show Parks and Recreaction and it was time to.

But all serious shoppers know it's important to shop on a somewhat full stomach so with a Raglan Road reservation so far off we decided it was time for a snack :thumbsup2 So where do you go in DTD for some sugary Mickey shaped items?

disneyday1095.jpg

It's time for Goofy's!

disneyday1107.jpg

I have a hard time looking at these pictures and not wanting everything in them

disneyday1115.jpg

With all of those choices what did we decide on?

disneyday1120.jpg

It was good but a bit floury and the icing was vanilla chocolate flavored so that got a bit old but it was Mickey shaped and Mickey shaped anything always tastes better. I am not sure about liver and onions but it's a fair bet that it would be better :thumbsup2

With decently satisfied tummies we continued on to one of my favorites TrenD!

disneyday1121.jpg

I also squealed when I saw this window :lovestruc

disneyday1122.jpg

That picture was the background on my laptop for the past couple weeks

The store not only has great clothes but great decor!

disneyday1123.jpg

disneyday1124.jpg

There were men working at this store so it was a bit odd because they just sort of stood there with an aura of awkwardness about them :laughing:I ended up treating myself to a cute black sundress :thumbsup2

Next we headed over to the Wide World of Disney because it's a must stop for basically everyone who goes to DTD

disneyday1125.jpg

We didn't buy anything and just walked around for a few. My dad had a couple requests for souveniors from Disney and my mom had gotten him the Black Pearl lego set for Valentine's day and he wanted some lego mermaids to go with it.

disneyday1133.jpg

Unfortunately the only mermaid set was $80 :headache: and they didn't sell them seperately :guilty:

It was time to head over to my other favorite DTD store!

After a quick look around Crush where I didn't find anything (this time..) we were lured by the sound of Irish music.

disneyday1142.jpg

disneyday1143.jpg

The Irish dancers from Raglan Road were teaching the little kids in the crowd how to Irish step dance! It was very cute but while we were watching them we decided we should see if we could get in early for our ADR.

We could and we got seated at a VIP table with comfy chairs!

disneyday1145.jpg

This would be my first time trying a Disney beverage so I decided to LIVE IT UP and get a whiskey flight :cool2:

disneyday1146.jpg

Kavanagh's Choice
Powers | Clontarf | Black Bush

The first two went down pretty well but the third needed a chaser of diet coke!

While I was enjoying my flight we also enjoyed food!

I had
disneyday1150.jpg

Heaven on Earth - baby back ribs in a Guinness and honey glaze $14

They were amazing and we went to Raglan Road just so I could have these! I had gotten a huge craving for them about a week prior  They are very good but very sweet so I couldn't eat too many of them

My mom had

disneyday1152.jpg

Fish and Chips - Our famous beer battered fish & chips served with our fresh tartar sauce.$19

She enjoyed these as well but again too big of a portion! (This will be a common theme on our trip!)

After having my thirst sufficiently quenched and our tummies full we headed out to burn the money in our wallets!

Coming up!
We act like trees
We spend money
We may actually get to a park at some point

Hi!

Fellow Michigander here! I am really enjoying your Trip Report so far! Its so nice outside lately that all I can think about is our next trip to Disney!! I don't know why...

Well, thanks for writing your report, and I'm looking forward to your next chapter...my wife can put a serious dent in the checking account while in DTD, especially in that kitchen store!!

I'll stop back later when I can see the pictures. It's not fun without them. :headache:

We love Downtown Disney and World of Disney.
You can get lost in that place.

As for LEGO mermaids, according to my little LEGO Master Builder,
you can get some non "Pirates of the Caribbean" mermaids with the LEGO Fairytale Set which is $50 (still expensive):
http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Fairytale-and-Historic-Minifigure-Set-9349

We like it too but we stopped by two times and never got anything :confused3

Thank you! You saying that gave my mom the idea of looking them up on Ebay and she found them for $10!

Aw I am sorry!

Welcome!!!

The weather has been amazing! I just hope it stays this way!

Thank you for reading it! Yeah I have to specifically set aside money or I can spend tons of it there

Signing in and ready for more!
I to had to stop and take a picture of that penguin at DTD!!

Glad to see you updated. I love the Lego store, I love the things outside to take pics of too. :) I hope to try Raglan Road soon.

That little white metal table with the mickey heads is SO CUTE! I want one. Probably not for sale or something like $500. But so cute!

Nice table at Raglan. I like that. In a million years I never would have guessed your first drink would be a whiskey flight. :scared1: That's too funny. Green beer - yes. :thumbsup2 Whiskey flight - no! :headache: I do remember when you posted that on FB and I winced then.

The food looks very yummy! Glad you had a great first meal.

Oh - and the candy pictures - you couldn't just stop with one - could ya? You needed to post something like 6. :rotfl: Nice!

HAHAHA YES. I love Parks and Rec. That was one of the funniest episodes. "TREAT YO SELF!" Hahha Tom and Donna crack me up.

WOW. Goofy's has some intense snackage. Goodness. Sugar coma just from looking at these pictures.

I know absolutely nothing about alcohol or whiskey but hooray for your first Disney beverage! Raglan Road looks yummy, and I never realized it was such a pretty restaurant!

What a nice, cozy table you got at Raglan Road! That makes is special. Your food looked yummy, too.

I love Parks and Rec too! I think that episode is my favorite and I need to look it up on nbc and watch it again!

Goofy's does have some great stuff but we made two stops at a better bakery/candy place later on in the trip!

thank you! it as such and excitingexperience! You should try it sometIME!

Nice update!!! Your pictures are so good. What photography books did you read before you went?

We don't seem to get to spend nearly enough time at DTD (on either side). It seems like whenever we go, DH is cranky, hot and tired. I will definitely spend more time in September :thumbsup2

I love Goofy's - we also haven't been in there in awhile. The store is a little dangerous with a 4 year old that would like for the major food groups to be Gummy Bears, M&Ms, Jelly Beans and Lollipops. :sad2:

Hope you are all safe after the stores last night.

Oh, DH and I love love love Parks & Rec. One of our favorite shows to watch together!

I've never been to Raglan Road, but I'm thinking about trying it for our upcoming trip...

And I'm pretty sure I left a puddle of drool on the floor of Goofy's Candy Co. the last time I was there!
