"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

Thank you! I think I am going to make it a tradition now :thumbsup2

I should get one with my daughters like that next time.

Regarding the turtle soup, the last time I was in New Orleans, (this was quite sometime ago), I went to a restaurant called Tujague's and the soup of the day was Turtle soup.

You should!

Awesome! I will have to look for that place!

Hi All! Hope everyone is well and enjoying their summer! We are eagerly counting down the days til our next trip (48!) and of course I have already begun packing. I know what you're thinking....she's nuts! It's like 7 weeks away....and you're right but I don't care!

Anyway back to February....when Caitlin left off we were headed out of Epcot and boarding the monorail for our lunch adr. Where were we headed? To the Poly! Yep time for lunch at one of my Disney World favorites....KONA!

disneyday5110.jpg

I love Kona! Their breakfasts and lunch are tops with me! If you've never been, you must go!

We got there and were seated immediately. (I have never seen it busy at lunch FYI) Check out how empty it looks!

We began by ordering our favorite appetizer, the sticky wings! They are like the ones at Ohana and oh so yummy!
disneyday5120.jpg

Caitlin ordered some sort of noodle bowl
disneyday5121.jpg

While I ordered their "plate lunch". This meal is soooo good and only $14.99! I can't wait to order this again next month!

This was a great meal and the service was prompt and attentive! Two thumbs up!!

When we finished eating we took a bus from the Poly to DTD for a bit of shopping. Our first stop at DTD was Curl which is Caitlin's favorite DTD store. If you've never been, it's sort of like a PacSun? The decor has a surf theme.

Caitlin ended up buying this outfit
disneyday5132.jpg

and these Tom's
disneyday5135.jpg

and this hoodie
disneyday5148.jpg

Our next stop was D Street which is the Vinylmation store.

disneyday5139.jpg

We loved this handpainted Rapunzel one
disneyday5137.jpg

After DStreet we decided to head back to Pop for a pool break since it had warmed up to a nice 80.

disneyday5141.jpg

They had a variety of activities going on at the pool and after a quick nap Caitlin got up and did the YMCA.

disneyday5143.jpg

We then played a game of Table Tennis before we got changed and headed back to Epcot.

As we arrived at Epcot it suddenly started looking like rain. We decided to ride Spaceship Earth and hoped that when we got out the sun would be back.
disneyday5188.jpg

However, no such luck! When we got out there was an awful storm going on! It was the heaviest downpour we've ever experienced at WDW. Thankfully we had umbrellas but our arms and pant legs still got soaked!

We had an adr at LaHacienda in about an hour so we decided to stop in and see if they could seat us early. The place wasn't too busy so they quickly found us a table.
disneyday5190.jpg

We ordered the Queso Fundido to share (eh it was ok)
disneyday5191.jpg

Caitlin ordered a raspberry margarita
disneyday5189.jpg

and we ordered this fabulous creation for dessert
disneyday5192.jpg

The Empanada de Manzana was delicious and I would go back again just for that!

So we enjoyed our evening snack and when we finished Caitlin leans in and says "I may need help standing up" I thought she was kidding and I laughed. She then got very serious and said "I can't feel my legs" and then cracked up.

So I helped her up she leaned into me as walked out. When we got out it was still pouring and we got soaked as it was really hard to prop her up and manage the umbrella. We walked over to the MouseGears area so I could use the restroom. I propped her up against the wall (yes I realize how unusual this all sounds) and told her to "stay" while I used the restroom. When I came out she was gone  I will admit that I panicked as I had visions of telling her father that I lost her at Epcot! I found her soon after just sort of wandering around. Since it was obvious that between her condition and the rain we would not be touring that evening we (guess I should say I) decided to grab a bus and go back to the resort. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long for a bus and we arrived back at Pop quickly and by 8:30 she was out for the night.

Yes, on this particular evening she enjoyed being 21 a little (hmmm let's be honest, WAY) too much

I was behind a few updates but I am caught up now. :thumbsup2

Your plans for your next trip sound like fun! that MNSHP seems like it would be a lot of fun, I would love to go one day. We were there for Halloween a few years ago but the parties were all sold out for our dates.

Glad you were able to score a walk in at Sci Fi! Are the car tables pretty cramped as far as legroom? I have been wanting to try that one but DH is pretty tall so maybe we would be better off at one of the regular tables.

Wow! that Margarita must have really packed a punch! LOL :)

Glad you're all caught up with us :)

Thanks! MNSSHP is so much fun! Dale and I went in 2009 and we can't wait for Caitlin to experience it :)

The picnic tables are on the small side so anyone tall probably wouldn't be too comfortable. Since it was just the 2 of us and neither of us is real tall it was perfect.

Wow! that Margarita must have really packed a punch! LOL :)

Yes it did :sad2:

I just want to try it to try it :confused3 I don't think they ever looked particularly appetizing and who knows I may freak out thinking I am eating Crush :rotfl:

This made me laugh...poor Crush!!

Ooo they serve Purple Haze at the Food and Wine Fest too!

They do have it...I forgot!! There are several local brews that are pretty good. Hopefully you can sample a few!

I missed Dawn's post....maybe you should skip some of those local brews!! :lmao:

Mmmmm...Kona is such a good choice! I enjoyed seeing the pool pics at POP since October will be our first time there! And I already have tried deciding what to pack in 79 days! So we can be crazy together!! :thumbsup2

Awesome! I will have to look for that place!

There are 100's (literally) of restaurants in NOLA that serve turtle soup. In addition to Tujague's on Decatur Street, here are a few more...

Figaro's on Carrollton
Brennan's on Royal
Pelican Club on Bienville
Arnaud's on Bienville

Any of those will be excellent not only for the turtle soup but for everything else they have! Bon Appetit!!

It is isn't it? It's our first adr for next month :)

I hope you like Pop! We've always had good service there and never had any complaints.
Glad to have some company in my craziness

Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that I've been reading your TR for the last week and I've really enjoyed it. We don't go again til March and I'm suffering withdrawals!!:scared:

We've not eaten at Kona yet because I have 2 really picky eaters but it looks so good to me!

I'm really looking forward to the rest of your report! Are you trying to finish it before you leave? I love your resort choices for your next trip! Can't wait to hear about it!popcorn::

Yum! I love Kona. Have a question for you - do they serve that wonderful bread with the macadamia nut butter at lunch?
It's so cute how Caitlin is enjoying being 21! My 21 year old son just is not interested in trying drinks.:confused3

Thank you! We only have two days left in this trip report so I'm sure we'll finish before the next. Thanks, me too!

We have never been given the bread at lunch. I'm not sure if you could ask for it or not.

Yes Caitlin loves being 21 :rotfl: She has always been the kind of person who follows the rules so she was never an underage drinker (thank goodness!) so she has embraced being of age. Be glad he's not interested that way you dont have to drag him out of a Disney park :rolleyes1

Wow! You read my mind! Truly an amazing woman.

Been there once. Liked it. Gotta try the tonga toast some day. But that's breakfast, so never mind. :rolleyes1:

When we finished eating we took a bus from the Poly to DTD for a bit of shopping.

What? Shocked! I'm shocked!

Cool. Added to the ever growing list.

I'm gonna make a little bet here. I look on the floor by her feet... and I'm betting that's a sneek peak at what her room's like, right?

After DStreet we decided to head back to Pop for a pool break since it had warmed up to a nice 80.

Gotta love the relaxing pool days. :)

They had a variety of activities going on at the pool and after a quick nap Caitlin got up and did the YMCA.

Pics! We want pics! :lmao: She's such a kid at heart, isn't she?

That's awesome. :thumbsup2

However, no such luck! When we got out there was an awful storm going on! It was the heaviest downpour we've ever experienced at WDW. Thankfully we had umbrellas but our arms and pant legs still got soaked!

Too bad. And I see from looking ahead that it wasn't your typical 10 minute shower.

Caitlin ordered a raspberry margarita

Cue ominous music...

Caitlin leans in and says "I may need help standing up" I thought she was kidding and I laughed. She then got very serious and said "I can't feel my legs" and then cracked up.

:lmao:

So I helped her up she leaned into me as walked out.

I think, just for fun, I would've walked a little ahead and said, "C'mon! C'mon girl! You can do it!" and just keep backing up as she crawls/staggers towards you.

I propped her up against the wall (yes I realize how unusual this all sounds) and told her to "stay" while I used the restroom.

:lmao: "Stay, Good girl."

When I came out she was gone  I will admit that I panicked as I had visions of telling her father that I lost her at Epcot!

Gee, I thought that feeling would go away when they became 'legal'. Guess not.

by 8:30 she was out for the night.

Yes, on this particular evening she enjoyed being 21 a little (hmmm let's be honest, WAY) too much

Nighty night, Caitlin. :rotfl: Fun update Dawn, thanks! :goodvibes

Wow! You read my mind! Truly an amazing woman.

It's a gift :)

Been there once. Liked it. Gotta try the tonga toast some day. But that's breakfast, so never mind. :rolleyes1:

The Tonga Toast does not appeal to me in the least but I know a lot of people love it.

What? Shocked! I'm shocked!

Cool. Added to the ever growing list.

Your girls would love it!

I'm gonna make a little bet here. I look on the floor by her feet... and I'm betting that's a sneek peak at what her room's like, right?

:rotfl2: You called that right!

Gotta love the relaxing pool days. :)

Yes she is :)

Too bad. And I see from looking ahead that it wasn't your typical 10 minute shower.

Unfortunately no

Cue ominous music...

:lmao:

Exactly!

Gee, I thought that feeling would go away when they became 'legal'. Guess not.

Nope, no matter how old they get your spouse will be mad if you lose them :rotfl:

Nighty night, Caitlin. :rotfl: Fun update Dawn, thanks! :goodvibes

She did get a good night's sleep that night ;)
