"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

Hi All! So glad that many of you let us know that you're still with us!

I may not be all there, but I'm here.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! We are having a beautiful Saturday! Not too hot and humid or rainy which is rare this steamy summer!

::yes:: It's been a great summer up here too.

Lucky for me though I get a whole week (they each get 4 nights) and get 2 Halloween parties :woohoo:

Can I come?

Now Ariel has long been my favorite princess

Did not know that. I understand she's a fan favorite for adolescent boys, too.

(although after seeing Brave I may prefer Merida)

Wasn't that a great movie?

but I cannot see this show every visit because it makes me :sad1: Yes I am a huge sap and at the end when King Triton says how much he is going to miss her, I am in tears. Gets me everytime...

Aww... Poor Dawn.

I don't know what the problem was in the theater this time but you know how it's kind of misty in there? Well this time it was downright wet! It really was like being in the water and it was cold

Would it be weird to wear a poncho to see VLM?

Caitlin tried getting a couple flashless pics

Ha! And what the adolescent boys don't want are 'flashless' pictures. :rotfl:

When the show was over we wanted to get a snack so we popped in to the SciFi to see if we could get a table, I mean car.

Such a fun place. Love the ambiance.

Caitlin ever eager to sample the adult beverages that WDW has to offer, ordered the "Comet". The Comet is rum, vodka, gin and tequila topped off with sour mix and cranberry juice. She loved it!

So was she under the table after that?

They have moved the preferred area since our last time and it's now smack dab in the middle of the theater. Perfection!

Oh, I didn't know they'd moved it. That was one of the reasons why I didn't bother with it. It didn't seem like such great seats, before.

While we waited we chatted with a couple nice families around us. One woman said how they'd seen Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina, anyone?) at the MK that day.

::yes::

Another man told of some issues when they rode the TOT and a kid (teenager) tried to hide that he intentionally didn't buckle up and they shut the ride down and kicked him out. (We miss all the fun ;))

:sad2:

When Fantasmic ended we still had time left until the park closed so we headed to ToT so Caitlin could ride at night. There was no line and she walked on

Nice. How'd she like it at night, vs during the day?

After that we headed over to RNRC so she could use the fast passes some nice ladies gave us earlier. She ended up riding 3 times in a row with no wait!

I have a feeling she and DD11 would get along just fine. :)
DD11 liked it so much that I had to take her to an Aerosmith concert. I'm pretty sure she was the youngest one there.

When Caitlin had her fill of runnning around with Aerosmith

ummm.... you might want to rephrase that!

When we got back we stopped at Petals (the pool bar) and Caitlin had a "Hula Hoop". I know I've said it before but I'll say it again...that girl  being 21.

:lmao: So it seems!

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

What a fun filled day! She sure did get some great pictures...:thumbsup2

Thank you :)

We love Sci Fi too and thought the food was decent! Those onion rings are so yummy!!

They sure are! As I was posting the picture I began thinking maybe we should get an adr there for Sept :)

I think it's one of the things I love the most about Disney is talking to new people and getting their take of the days they've had!

I love the people watching and talking to other guests. We've met people from around the globe on our many visits :)

I haven’t seen The Little Mermaid show in like forever! It really is a beautiful show.

I am so jealous that Caitlin got to go on the RNRC three times in a row! That’s my favorite ride!

I may not be all there, but I'm here.

:rotfl:

::yes:: It's been a great summer up here too.

Glad to hear it :)

Can I come?

Sure! The more the merrier :)

Did not know that. I understand she's a fan favorite for adolescent boys, too.

It sure was! We all loved it :)

Aww... Poor Dawn.

thank you

Would it be weird to wear a poncho to see VLM?

I imagine people would look at us like we were a bit odd :rotfl:

Ha! And what the adolescent boys don't want are 'flashless' pictures. :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Such a fun place. Love the ambiance.

Me too!

So was she under the table after that?

Suprisingly no. She was fine, go figure

Oh, I didn't know they'd moved it. That was one of the reasons why I didn't bother with it. It didn't seem like such great seats, before.
The seating is so much better now! Makes the package worth it plus not wait so win-win!

::yes::

:sad2:

Nice. How'd she like it at night, vs during the day?

She said it was a little creepier but you couldn't see the theming as well.

I have a feeling she and DD11 would get along just fine. :)
DD11 liked it so much that I had to take her to an Aerosmith concert. I'm pretty sure she was the youngest one there.

That's awesome!

ummm.... you might want to rephrase that!

oops :rotfl:

:lmao: So it seems!

Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading :)

Yes it is!

She had a blast! :)

Oooooh so exciting that you're going to the Walking Dead thing at Universal. We usually skip US when we're in Orlando (all disney all the time)! But that Walking Dead halloween addition sure made it tempting to want to go this year.

We're the same way. We always say we should go to Universal but in the end we just can't leave Disney :) However, that changed when she heard about the Walking Dead haunted house since she is a huge fan. The 4 of us will spend the afternoon at Epcot trying the Food and Wine booths and then that evening she and her dad will try and brave the Horror Night :)

That's awesome you and your husband as Perry and Doof. I'm already excited to see how the costumes turn out! :)

Oooo, Little Mermaid! Looks like such a good show, can't believe I've missed it all these times. The set looks absolutely gorgeous, almost looks better than the Broadway production's set.

Definitely gotta take notes of those picnic seats at SciFi! Didn't exactly have a great experience the first time (well compared to the amazing experiences we had had prior), and it definitely attributed to the uncomfortable seating inside the cars and you still got a great view! Also, everything looks more delicious than last time!

YAY! FANTASMIC! So great to hear the seating is more centered now. And that's so cool those people saw Melissa Joan Hart! I absolutely love her, she was awesome in Sabrina The Teenage Witch. Anyways, love the pictures of the show and Caitlin's pictures from ToT and RnRC! I can't believe she got so much done in those last few moments you had at the parks, just... wow!

Can't wait to hear about your next day in the world! :mickeyjum

After many months of being subscribed to this thread, I FINALLY caught up! I'm loving it, girls! As usual! :goodvibes I'm excited for your next trip, too! It's coming up soon!

Thanks. We're keeping it real simple since we expect it will be hot but it will be a lot of fun.

If you've never seen it you must fit it in your next visit.

I'm not a fan of the bench seating of the cars so I really preferred the round picnic table.

Caitlin was always a big Sabrina fan (she had the Barbie doll back in the day) so it was fun hearing they saw her. Thanks

Glad you're all caught up :)
Thank you!
We are so excited for our next trip! Caitlin has never been to Food and Wine or MNSSHP and my dad hasn't gone with us in 20 years so we have much to look forward too! :)

Me, too! :)

Thanks for the wonderful report, ladies, and all those fabulous pictures! It made me even more excited for next year's Princess Half. Can't wait to shop at the expo! ;)

Aww thank you :)

Have you done a Disney race before? Be sure and get to the Expo early as they sell out of a lot of the items.

So much going on again I thought I should post another update before I got behind :thumbsup2 I am going to be one lucky girl come October! I am starting off the month in Disney and ending it in New Orleans :cool2: So excited!!!

I am going to apologize ahead of time for the lack of pictures this day! There were only 100 pictures taken for this day due to a margarita that night but we will discuss it when we get there ;)

We started the day off bright and early!

Mom had to take a picture with her birth year

disneyday5005.jpg

On our way to the food court I took some pictres of Art of Animation

disneyday5009.jpg

disneyday5010.jpg

disneyday5011.jpg

disneyday5012.jpg

disneyday5013.jpg

Once at the food court I had an old favorite for breakfast

disneyday5014.jpg

a peanut butter and banana bagel sandwich :) I am guessing mom had a Mickey Waffle again? There isn't a picture so insert favorite Disney breakfast food here......

After my sandwich and Mom's mystery breakfast we were headed to Epcot! (Which makes my lack of pictures this day even sadder :sad2:)

disneyday5015.jpg

Today the park started with a parade of nations on ECVs! It was pretty hilarious and all of the CMs were cracking up :thumbsup2

disneyday5016.jpg

disneyday5017.jpg

disneyday5018.jpg

disneyday5019.jpg

and last but certainly not least the Queen of England

disneyday5020.jpg

It was very cute and the first time I had heard/seen anything of this. I am guessing it only happens when the CMs are giddy from the early morning/ hyped up on coffee/ feel like taking joy rides :thumbsup2

disneyday5021.jpg

Once the park open we headed in and began our trek to Test Track!

disneyday5022.jpg

This Q kind of creeps me out now because of the Kingdom Keepers books. I am already a bit nervous around Test Track Dummies but knowing they come alive at night and try to kill people makes it that much worse :sad1: Plus since we were first in line for the day it was very quiet, not something you usually see with Test Track!

disneyday5023.jpg

disneyday5024.jpg

disneyday5025.jpg

disneyday5026.jpg

disneyday5027.jpg

disneyday5029.jpg

After sufficiently documenting the Q it was time to ride!

disneyday5032.jpg

disneyday5034.jpg

disneyday5035.jpg

disneyday5036.jpg

So I think I figured out why there was a lack of pictures today. As most of you know I ended up with a horrible kidney infection after the trip and I feel like today that, exhaustion and lack of sleep all hit me. I said some pretty stupid stuff that day and don't worry you will find out all about it!

After the ride I found my new ride :cool2:
disneyday5040.jpg

disneyday5041.jpg

We decided to head over to Innoventions because we had heard about the new healthy living game that was having test runs while we were there. Now y'all know what a gym rat I am so we thought this would be right up my alley!

disneyday5043.jpg

Unfortunately it was closed so I settled for a few rides on Sum of All Thrills

disneyday5044.jpg

disneyday5045.jpg

Although I get that science and math are scary I don't get why people get flustered by making their ride vehicles :confused3 I have heard on trip reports where people didn't end up making their ride in enough time because of the math involved... Really? There is a test robot who tells you if it works or not. You fill up a bar to green and when it is red you did it wrong. :rolleyes2 So if you are not riding this due to the math or science if I can do it you can :thumbsup2

Some pictures of the closed healthy living game

disneyday5046.jpg

disneyday5047.jpg

After this we decided to take a ride under seas with Nemo :)

disneyday5048.jpg

disneyday5050.jpg

I wish we sold these at Lowe's I really think people would be uplifted while doing home improvements if they had these!

disneyday5051.jpg

We rode the Clammobile and then I got into some trouble with a shark

disneyday5072.jpg

Everything went from "Hey I am in a shark's mouth this is cool" to "you are human you are food" pretty quickly...

disneyday5073.jpg

I proceeded to get in trouble for that pose after a little girl walked in :guilty: Mom thought I might scare her :lmao: I would have laughed a bit if the little girl had indeed freaked out...

Anyway back to exploring the tanks with our underwater friends

disneyday5077.jpg

disneyday5078.jpg

disneyday5081.jpg

disneyday5088.jpg

That reminds me any one know of a good place for turtle soup in New Orleans?

I apologize for my sick sense of humor today.. I am not usually this bad :lmao:

A man taking care of the fishies

disneyday5090.jpg

We decided to do Turtle Talk with Crush so we headed that way to wait for it

disneyday5095.jpg

Memo to self: These are not manatees..

disneyday5100.jpg

I found it odd that sting ray kept trying to go to the surface of the tank. Well we didn't have very talkative kids in the audience for Turtle Talk so I got to ask a question. I asked why some fish go to the surface. He answered and asked if I had a certain fish in mind. I said a manatee.. Now let's look at that sting ray

disneyday5100.jpg

Nope still not a manatee :sad2: But I found out manatees are mammals so they breathe air. I would have been fine but of course Mom gave me a hard time about it :thumbsup2

We decided it was time to head to lunch so we packed up and moved out

disneyday5102.jpg

but not before stopping to see a couple characters.

disneyday5105.jpg

Bert and Mary were just delightful! Mary told me to put my best foot forward and when they saw the tattoo of a rose on my foot they proceeded to tell me how Bert loves painting flowers :flower3:

I also got to see Stitch

disneyday5106.jpg

disneyday5107.jpg

Then it was time to head to...
disneyday5108.jpg

Next up Mom's turn cuz this is her favorite place to eat now!

I am going to be one lucky girl come October! I am starting off the month in Disney and ending it in New Orleans :cool2: So excited!!!

I bet! New Orleans is on my bucket list. I am officially green with envy.

Maybe that's just the relish from last night's hot dog.

But still.

I am going to apologize ahead of time for the lack of pictures this day! There were only 100 pictures taken for this day due to a margarita that night but we will discuss it when we get there

Two things.
1. The margarita story sounds like it should be good. :thumbsup2
2. I LOL at "only 100 pictures". There was a time, about a hundred years ago, when pictures were taken on this stuff called 'film'. If you took 100 pics on a trip, that was a lot!

Mom had to take a picture with her birth year

I don't mean to embarrass you, but you obviously got the wrong pic up there. There's no way your mom was born in '66. '76 maybe, but definitely not '66.

Once at the food court I had an old favorite for breakfast

a peanut butter and banana bagel sandwich

Never had that on a bagel.... But I love PB & banana, too.

Today the park started with a parade of nations on ECVs! It was pretty hilarious and all of the CMs were cracking up

disneyday5017.jpg

That one cracked me up. :rotfl:

and last but certainly not least the Queen of England

Did you happen to watch the opening ceremonies for the Olympics, and see what the Queen did?

Once the park open we headed in and began our trek to Test Track!

Totally terrific, too!

So I think I figured out why there was a lack of pictures today. As most of you know I ended up with a horrible kidney infection after the trip and I feel like today that, exhaustion and lack of sleep all hit me. I said some pretty stupid stuff that day and don't worry you will find out all about it!

Yup. Heard about it. You are feeling better now, right?

And that story should be interesting.

After the ride I found my new ride :cool2:

Yup. It looks good on you. :thumbsup2

Although I get that science and math are scary I don't get why people get flustered by making their ride vehicles :confused3 I have heard on trip reports where people didn't end up making their ride in enough time because of the math involved... Haven't tried it yet, but some day. Thanks for the heads up.

Everything went from "Hey I am in a shark's mouth this is cool" to "you are human you are food" pretty quickly...

disneyday5073.jpg

That's just.... disturbing...

I like it.

I proceeded to get in trouble for that pose after a little girl walked in :guilty: Mom thought I might scare her :lmao: I would have laughed a bit if the little girl had indeed freaked out...

Oh, you're evil!

I like that too.

That reminds me any one know of a good place for turtle soup in New Orleans?

I apologize for my sick sense of humor today.. I am not usually this bad :lmao:

That's okay. It's the remnant of the infection and fever talking.

Besides... I'm usually much worse. :rolleyes1:

I asked why some fish go to the surface. He answered and asked if I had a certain fish in mind. I said a manatee..

:sad2: Oh, dear. I would've liked to have seen Crush's expression when you asked that.

But I found out manatees are mammals so they breathe air. I would have been fine but of course Mom gave me a hard time about it :thumbsup2

If you'd been my daughter, I'd never let you live it down.

but not before stopping to see a couple characters.

disneyday5105.jpg

Again... did you see the opening ceremonies?

Next up Mom's turn cuz this is her favorite place to eat now!

Yeah, and we need to hear the margarita story. Thanks for the update Caitlin! :goodvibes

I don't mean to embarrass you, but you obviously got the wrong pic up there. There's no way your mom was born in '66. '76 maybe, but definitely not '66.

Pkondz, did I ever tell you that you're my favorite? :)

I bet! New Orleans is on my bucket list. I am officially green with envy.

Maybe that's just the relish from last night's hot dog.

But still.

:rotfl: My boyfriend is stationed in Louisiana so we are going to party it up the weekend before Halloween :thumbsup2

Two things.
1. The margarita story sounds like it should be good. :thumbsup2
2. I LOL at "only 100 pictures". There was a time, about a hundred years ago, when pictures were taken on this stuff called 'film'. If you took 100 pics on a trip, that was a lot!

It is a pretty good story that I have yet to live down :lmao:

Very true! I do remember film :upsidedow

I don't mean to embarrass you, but you obviously got the wrong pic up there. There's no way your mom was born in '66. '76 maybe, but definitely not '66.

I actually got a talking to about posting that pic ;)

Never had that on a bagel.... But I love PB & banana, too.

Try it!

That one cracked me up. :rotfl:

Did you happen to watch the opening ceremonies for the Olympics, and see what the Queen did?

I had to work that night so I heard about it but didn't see it :sad2:

Totally terrific, too!

Yup. Heard about it. You are feeling better now, right?

And that story should be interesting.

Yep haven't had any more issues :thumbsup2

Yup. It looks good on you. :thumbsup2

Thank you!

Haven't tried it yet, but some day. Thanks for the heads up.

That's just.... disturbing...

I like it.

That was actually the cover of my mom's mother's day card! It said thanks for loving me even when I was a pain in the A$* :thumbsup2

Oh, you're evil!

I like that too.

Thank you!

That's okay. It's the remnant of the infection and fever talking.

Besides... I'm usually much worse. :rolleyes1:

Yeah I can have a bad sense of humor sometimes..

:sad2: Oh, dear. I would've liked to have seen Crush's expression when you asked that.

It's amazing how one look from a turtle can make you feel like an idiot..

If you'd been my daughter, I'd never let you live it down.

Yeah lucky for her I forgot to add her trip after getting off the clammobile

Again... did you see the opening ceremonies?

Heard didn't see although I have been meaning to look that up!

Yeah, and we need to hear the margarita story. Thanks for the update Caitlin! :goodvibes

Mom needs to tell it since I don't remember it...
