Is anyone familiar with the best day of the week to fly to/from Detroit and Orlando?

We are currently scheduled to go Aug 23-30 (Tues-Tues). Apparently Tuesday to Tuesday is the cheapest flights. I would like to add a couple days at the start of the trip so we should return home Tuesday, but maybe fly out from Detroit Saturday or Sunday.

Currently...
August 23: Detroit -> Orlando
August 30: Orlando -> Detroit

I have always found Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday the cheapest. Prepare to pay more if you leave on the weekend. We are going Sunday to Sunday this time, leaving on Easter (schoolteacher; no choice) and the price was painful.

My wife is a school teacher as well. Hence the reason we are going in August. I'd rather deal with August heat instead of Christmas and March break crowds and price tags!

The other cheap thing I've done is fly flint to Orlando. (Not sure if that's an option for you).

Our next trip is Tuesday to Saturday, so a short one, and we're actually flying out of Grand Rapids this time on southwest since it's the only direct flight we could get on southwest. (18 month old - I am not doing a plane change)

Our Saturday flight was more expensive since it's Saturday of course, but I did get the Tuesday flight for $97/person I think so that was exciting.

We're about 45 minutes from either flint or Detroit so I always check both. Just something to think about if it would work for you.

We have flown out of Detroit on Delta to Florida every year for the last 6 years and last few years we have flown out on a Saturday, which has been more expensive than Sunday departures we used to do in the past. I track the flights I want on yapta.com as it will give me email messages if the price drops. You can track several different flight times and days. You need to enter in the Delta flight numbers and dates yourself by checking Delta's website, but this always works well for us. HTH!
