Details on Enchanted Rose – A New Lounge Coming to the Grand Floridian

Was just thinking about this lounge today. The artist renderings look beautiful. I wonder how child-friendly it will /won’t be. Totally get it is Disney but also really hoping for a lounge space,

Not really.

I visited Grand Floridian back in the late 1990's and Belle & The Beast were dancing in the lobby.

And let's remember, this new spot is replacing Mizner's Lounge.

Who is/was Mizner?
This is from google:

The Grand Floridian was inspired by the Victorian era beach resorts built along Florida's east coast during the late 19th century and early 20th century; its exterior is modeled after the Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire and Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California, with red gabled roofs ...

Beauty and the Beast is set in a small provincial French town. Mid 1700s.

And Mizner's could be after south Florida resort architect Addison Mizner??? He did Spanish Colonial Revival style.

From Touring Plans:

The lounge itself is named for Addison Mizner, the developer of Boca Raton, Florida and a very popular architect in the 1920s. His mixture of Victorian, Mediterranean, and Spanish Colonial styles is still seen many places in South Florida, and the Grand Floridian was designed to mimic the architectural style he championed. While the decor of the lounge is a bit muted, the setting is quite wonderful. Sitting near the window in one of the many high-backed armchairs affords a view of the pretty, manicured, tree-lined grounds of the Grand Floridian. When the orchestra is playing, the beautiful classical music is the perfect accompaniment to a snifter of sherry and a cigar...and you can buy both at Mizner’s.

Thank you.

I was having a fact-check moment with my school-age child today.

Thank you very much.

I am an (occasional) cigar smoker. I'm amazed Disney sells the things. I have rarely found an appropriate on-site place to enjoy a good smoke, even at/near the place to buy a stick. Capa apparently has some public cigar sessions (that I may try someday). I guess inside Sosa's is the safest place, but not very relaxing.

Sure, it's possible/likely that the new-Mizners will have lost some of the charm of the original. All change is not good. But some change is better.

If the new-Miners can offer more options and with faster service - I'm all for it.

I miss seeing Belle & The Beast dancing. And like many, I'll miss the old-Mizners too.

But next round at the new-Miners, Enchanted Rose, is on me so we can all say, "Cheers!" to Addison Mizner.

I gave thanks for a similar Post that made us all more knowledgeable about Mr. Mizner.

Thank you too.

FWIW, Beauty & the Beast is a movie. It is not historically accurate. However, much like the architecture of Mr. Mizner, the movie is drawn from many elements and times.

I'm looking forward to the new-Mizners.

"Cheers!," to Addison Mizner.

I do agree with @JZCubed that I too hope they improve the service. We have only been one time and it was recently (in March). And we were there 20 mins while waiting for our table to be ready at GF Cafe. And wanted drinks. Had just ordered them, after sitting there 20 mins, when our table was ready. So we didn't even get our drinks (cancelled order and went to get seated at GF Cafe). But it's a theme with all the lounges. They have like 2 servers and you're lucky to get 1 drink in an hour.

Sorry to see Mizner's go. Last January my husband and I were planning to use the very last day of our AP for a day at Animal Kingdom. We woke up to pouring buckets of rain that did not let up. Because we had already enjoyed many park days that year, we decided to celebrate our last AP day by hanging at Mizner's Lounge where we spent several hours by the window watching the rain and enjoying some prosecco and snacks. It was a lovely atmosphere. RIP

Exactly. And now it’s being replaced by a children’s bar.

I don’t know that I would call it a “children’s bar”. I’m 41 and I’m looking forward to this new space! I go to plenty of “adult” lounges when I’m at home or on vacation outside of Disney. I like the whimsy of Disney theming when I’m on a Disney vacation and is one of the reasons I choose to go there. The renderings are very tasteful and as I grew up with Disney movies such as Beauty and the Beast, I feel that they are appealing to this generation of parents!

OMG! how true! Even thought he atmosphere is clearly "adult" you'll be tripping over strollers, and get to watch children running freely, so much for romantic atmosphere.

I so hope not. If so it will be a once & done for us. Disney will not be selling many $19 margaritas if this becomes a place to let kids nap on the seats, play at the bar & run around.

At Mizner's children ran freely and I often tripped over strollers.

I was a huge fan or Mizner's. I loved that you could hear the big band and from what I understand, they will be back in their usual spot.

I'm excited about the change. From what the photos I've seen look like it's very classy and upscale looking. Just as I would expect from Disney.
