Has anyone ever gotten to-go from a table service or signature restaurant--specifically dessert?

There are 2 restaurants where I am excited about the desserts (one of them was my favorite dessert from last trip), but I am not excited about the 1 plant based entree at each restaurant: Tiffins and Flying Fish.

I feel bad taking up a table to just order dessert, so I was thinking of seeing if I could order it to go. But I'm not sure if those kinds of places are equipped for to go orders. I'm going to try asking when I'm there, but just curious if anyone's had success before.

I might also try to walk up to Tiffins toward the end of the night (when they should be slowing down) and ask if they'd have room for a walk-in for a quick dessert if they can't do to go.

I've also heard of people sometimes getting Flying Fish items at AbracadaBar, even though it's not on their menu, so also looking to see if anyone's had success getting the Key Lime Cake from AbracadaBar.

Tiffins' Tropical Trifle dessert is divine, and I really hope to have it again next trip--and highly recommend it!

Got to go desserts from FF when we stayed at BWI as the restaurant provided room service for the hotel. This was pre pandemic but no idea if the service is offered now.

Steakhouse 71 boxed up dessert for us this week when we were too stuffed to eat it.

Flying Fish boxed up a dessert to go for a woman sitting at the bar a few months ago. She was bringing it back to her husband who she had left with the kids in the room because she needed a break. Their desserts are works of art so I do think they lose a little something in transport, but the flavor won't be impacted. Or just sit at the bar and have it!

Another option for Tiffins is to ask at Nomad Lounge if you can get the dessert. It depends on how busy they are but you can often get some of the Tiffins appetizers there.

I forgot FF had a bar inside--thanks for the reminders! I'll see about to-go from the bar or perhaps eating dessert at the bar.

For Tiffins, I found out the dessert is formed and served in a special glass and so they can't do to-go since they can't remove it from the glass. I've asked for Nomad items at Tiffins and vice versa before and have always been told "no," so I am not going to count on that, but will see if I can get creative while I'm there.

I might also try to walk up to Tiffins toward the end of the night (when they should be slowing down) and ask if they'd have room for a walk-in for a quick dessert if they can't do to go.
Why not simply make the latest reservation possible at Tiffins instead of risking it with a walk-up? So long as you tip your server well, they will probably be glad that your time in the restaurant will be shorter than average so they won’t have to work late.

If the restaurant has a bar then you can almost definitely take a seat and order a dessert to go, or just eat it there. Flying Fish does, and I think you'll be good just walking in after the dinner rush. I'm not sure if Tiffins does, but they share a kitchen with Nomad Lounge, so I think it's worth asking.

We were just at Tiffin's and I heard the party near us ask about to-go items - I think it was dessert that they were after - and were told that they couldn't do it.
