I feel like cooking this weekend, so I'm having some friends over for a late lunch. I'm thinking of doing steaks, salad, cheddar cheese soup, mashed potatoes and a dessert. One guest is allergic to apples, another to peanuts. Any dessert recommendations? It's gonna be dreary out, so maybe something fall-ish.

ETA: I also have one who isn't a huge fan of chocolate.

Cheese cake with mixed berrys. Do you have Trader Joes near you?:)

Cheesecake is ALWAYS good...and can I come too? :goodvibes

Lol I found a recipe for pumpkin cheesecake (and it's in a prepared graham cracker crust so I don't need a springform pan)... maybe I'll combine the two suggestions!

check allrecipes.com they have some great cheesecake recipes.. or even on the back of philly crem cheese.. a suggestion that is lite and not a calories ladening is lots fruit and a dipping sauce.. or a fresh fruit cobler or berry crisp.. YUMMY!! wil make the house smell nice too..

You are never wrong to go with a chocolate cake!

Fancy chocolate layer cake and frosting from scratch, or cheat and do a doctored mix. I like a Duncan Hines devil's food cake mix, make the pound cake recipe on the side of the box, you can also add chocolate chips to the batter (make sure they are peanut safe, some aren't). Use a can of chocolate frosting or just sprinkle iwth powdered sugar. If you like to booze it up, replace part of the water required with 1/4 to 1/2 cup rum, amaretto, frangelico, grand marnier, or your favorite liquor.

Tiramisu!

Italian for pick-me-up, doncha know :)
