We are planning 2 dessert parties on our trip and I wanted to get people's opinions on our strategies. I have only ever done one at DL with Fantasmic, but that was before it was a "thing", and was sort of an unadvertised event.

FYI-we are going mid-September and are only 2 adults.

Party 1: Happily Ever After with garden plaza viewing:
Will be doing this on a Monday evening (due to Halloween parties and dining reservations it was the only day that would work). We will be at AK early that morning, for am EMH. Then will spend the morning and early afternoon at AK, before hopping to MK (via express bus).
Food: breakfast snack in room/bus/before AK opening (granola bar or boxed cereal or something). Then actual breakfast late morning at Satuli Canteen. Rather than doing a proper dinner, we would maybe do a larger late lunch at Flame Tree BBQ (I've heard their portions are large), so we would have plenty of room for desserts! Would it be too late though, and should we instead do a light lunch in AK and a light dinner in MK (maybe each time sharing a QS meal)?

Party 2: Star Wars dessert party:
Will be doing this Tuesday evening. That morning we won't be at parks, instead sleeping in and relaxing at pool. Maybe a bit of Disney Springs. Probably do brunch at the POFQ food court. Then early dinner at Art Smith Homecoming (4:30pm), before heading over to HS, going on a few rides via FP+, then desserts. Should we try to do dinner earlier so we have plenty of time to enjoy rides at HS? Because we have the dining plan, it comes with dessert, so we may get the doughnuts to go, take them back to the resort, and then hop bus to HS so we can enjoy them the next morning.

Since you wont have an ADR just play it by ear. If you're hungry, get something small to eat. PLenty of snack options and side items at quick service locations would work. (Yak & yeti fried ride for example)

We ate at 2:15pm at Cinderella's Royal Table on our dessert party day, and everyone except me was hungry enough to eat a meal at Columbia Harbour House around 6-7pm. That said, CRT does not have large portions, and my husband and teenage stepson eat a lot. I was ok with a popcorn and a soda around that time.

I did not see Star Wars dessert Party dates released on disney world website ? Where were you able to book the party ?

For MK dessert party years ago, DH and I ate around 2-ish and were not too full for the party. In fact, we were hungry so it worked out great. Anything later than 3 and I don't think we could have eaten everything offered (at least one of everything).
