Dessert party? or meal?

Im having a bit of a dillema! I dont know wether to have a dessert party or take the whole family out to dinner! I would like to here about anyone elses experiences if possible.

And I'd like to know Where can you have the dessert parties? (what parks I mean) and what type of things do you get included.

Im having an intimate wedding and the cake cutting and champagne toast is incl and is in the grand floridian but I dont think that is enough of a celebration so I thought we could do something special as well but I have no idea what to do. If I decide to have meal then I dont know what venue would be the best. Im having about 19 guests and 7 of them are children! Where woud we have it that would entertain every1?

As you can tell I'm slightly stressed out and would really appreciate the help!

Hi!

I don't know much about any other kind of dessert parties, but the Illuminations dessert parties are held in EPCOT, during the Illuminations fireworks show.

I believe they last around 2 hours, and you can build a menu of various desserts starting at around $20/per person. The total cost starts around $1,000 when you factor in the viewing fees for guests who don't have admission to EPCOT, transportation to the park for everyone, etc.

I'm having a almost the same problem - here's to sum up some answer I've gotten here about this...

Dessert Parties are held in either Epcot for Illuminations or MGM for Fantasmic, however it seems most people warn against this because if it rains then you don't get a show....

You could also do a Wishes or Illuminations cruise and rent a small boat (patoon I think, but I'm not sure if that's spelled right) Only holds 13 though I think...

Or there are some restaurants that have a private room

I *THINK* please don't quote me on this - that V&A's has one, Citrico's, Fulton's Crabhouse, and some places at Swan & Dolphin too. I'm not exactly sure which retsuarants have private rooms.

Those are the options I've gathered from my research but I'm still in learning/planning stages and haven't booked anything yet.

We are doing both! Our wedding is at 10 am so we have planned to have lunch at the California Grill following our wedding and cake cutting.

From there we thought we could let our guests go change and have the afternoon to themselves and we could meet up again in the evening for a dessert reception. This will be a nice end to the day and give us some more time with our guests. It will also allow us some alone time in the afternoon to be together as a couple.

We are only having 16 guests so this should work well. By having a lunch reception rather then dinner, it is cheaper and allows us room in the budget for the dessert reception.

We are also planning our "rehearsal dinner" the night before at O'hana's.
