I am hoping for a bit of advice :)

It looks like we will have about 100 people attending our WDW. Does anyone have any idea how much a dessert party would be for that many people? I would also love to have a Mad Hatters Tea Party for the Bridesmaids, but it would include about 25 people.. Is this possible or have I gone completely and totally bonkers?? We have about a 55k budget, but it is not set in stone!

I think a dessert party of that size would cost around a minimum of 4k. The mad hatter tea with all the props and the cake etc. costs a minimum of 10k. I think 55k is a pretty good budget to accomplish what you want.

break down for a dessert party is

$12.50 viewing fee per person
$18.00 child in you menu (cheapest available)
$80 per hour for charter busses .. minimum 5 hours seats 47 I think
Location rental fee varies

Hotest fee $90.00

Wow, I didn't know the tea party would be so expensive! :rotfl2: I probably should have figured that hehe.. I saw it on the video but did not bring it up to my planner yet.. We are meeting with her Oct 11th so I am going to bombard her with questions!

Do people typically have the dessert party the day of the wedding or the evening before?

You can make a ADR for the tea at the Garden View Lounge in the grand Floridian for much cheaper probably.

I think it is probably half and half on the dessert parties... I think the pictures are amazing when you are in your dress!

Ohh that is a good idea. The mad hatter one just looked SOOO fun :)

are the buses a requirement for the dessert party?

Host fees are now included in the venue fees so you would not have to pay that for the party, however, if you choose to have chairs/tables you will pay a set up fee.

I had 99 guests and when I priced out the dessert party that I wanted (I didn't want just the rice krispie treats and cookies) it was about $6k. Unfortunately that was too much for my budget:(. I was told that the buses were optional. My reception was at ADH and I wanted my guests to just walk over to epcot (trying to limit the costs)...so my estimate was without buses. Keep in mind though that the guidelines and prices constantly change.

We are doing the dessert party as a welcome party after our rehersal dinner (because we really wanted an evening wedding). For about 65 people I would say it will be 4K but that is with a pricery menu than the child in you (I think ours is like $26 pp). At this point I believe Disney's official stance is that the charter bus is required for any in park events. I have heard of people who have not had it for a welcome party but that is your planners call. I believe 99.9% of the time if the event is the day of the wedding you need the bus because Disney is not too keen on people walking around in their bridal attire (this is just what I have been told) but again check with your planner. The venue fees range from $ 200-500.

The tea party is 10k for the alice in wonderland party like the one featured on food tv but they can def. do something similiar without all the props and scaling back the menu for much less....so I have been told! I am sure your palnner will give you more details. keep us updated and Good luck! :goodvibes

Hey Butterfly bride- I am not sure exactly what the price my mad hatter is but no where near 10 maybe 3. I am doing upgraded linens 2 characters, a 2 layer made hatter cake and brunch menu for about 30. It can be done, just lose the props, I am also having a shower here and I am just using the flowers that we are using here for that!

Yeah...they charge you a ton for those props...also to close off the lawn at the GF. I think a better and cheaper option is the whitehall room.

I am having a dessert party for 35 the night of my wedding. We are not going in wedding attire and all guests have park hoppers for the Epcot admission. My planner removed the $12.50 per person viewing fee (since we have Epcot admission) and the charter bus. Our escort is meeting us at the Upper UK and then walking us to monorail after party. This really cut the cost down. Just be clear with your planner what you want, and it can be done.
