Are they still doing this? What time do you show up for it and can you see the electrical parade from the terrace? Any help would be appreciated.

It's still going on. They give you a time you can show up (like an ADR). You'll get a bracelet when you're admitted to prove that you belong there.

We could see the tops of the floats but only the taller ones.

You will be able to see the higher parts of the floats, but not the short floats, the walking characters or anything else at street level.

Would we have time to watch the parade and then go to the Desert Party?

We were able to do the dessert party last week and were disappointed. We were a party of 12 and were amazed by rude people grabbing HUGE plates of items and pushing to get what they wanted.

It was actually my children who pointed this out, ages 13 yrs - 25 yrs... and were amazed at parents who didn't supervise children. We had kids push past us as we were standing reaching for some treats. Adults were just as rude.

It was great for the ability to sit and watch without standing a guarding a spot forever, but totally not worth it again IMO.

Ive been wondering if this was really worth it. Isnt it like $36 now? That just seems like a lot for dessert. I could see it being worth it if you had a nice seat. But if the place is crowded....

Id love to hear more opinions from people that have been. How crowded is it?

Thank you for the current update. I have read both good and bad reviews but most of them seems to be very dated. Any other opinions good and bad would be greatly appreciated.

We have done the Dessert Party twice and would do it again, but it certainly is not for everyone.

If you reserve this, the #1 thing to know is that the ADR time IS PROBABLY WRONG. There is 1 and only 1 Dessert Party per night and it starts 1 hour before Wishes for all attendees. The ADR system still seems to treat this like a regular restaurant and gives people staggered ADR times. No matter what ADR time you get, you have a reservation for the Party and should show up 10-15 minutes before it starts. They check you in and give wristbands, then seat everyone right at 1 hour before Wishes. If Wishes is at 10, show up at 8:45 whether your ADR says 7 pm or 9:20 pm. The ADR is WRONG.

The first year we went the buffet tables were on the same level as the seating tables; this year the buffet was up on the mezzanine level so there were more seating tables = more attendees on the main level, but I did not feel it was over-crowded. Pushing/rudeness in a buffet line can happen anywhere, I guess. There were several long buffet tables with identical dessert items and they seemed to be restocked regularly so that should not be a problem.

You do not get much of a view of the MSEP, and if you go to Main Street to watch it first you will miss half the Dessert Party - seems a waste of $. If the Parade is a deal-breaker for you, save the Dessert Party for another trip.

I actually thought the Party worked better for groups without small kids. The desserts are more bite-sized (little tartlets, demi-tasse cups of creme brulee, chocolate-covered strawberries, mango shooters). There are cookies and rice crispy treats, but my feeling is that it is not directly aimed at kids. Beverages include hot coffee & tea, iced tea, milk, & lemonade. NO soda pop. Ice cream was apparently added during the summer but may be gone by now.

I think it is a great opportunity to sit down in real chairs and actually get to talk to your family/group without shouting, to nibble a variety of desserts rather than one big monster ice cream cone from the Plaza, and have a good view of the Castle without having to stand for 2 hours ahead of time.

Bonus points if you schedule the Dessert Party when the MK has evening EMH: the sugar high from the Party can easily carry you till that 1 or 2 am park closing!

Final note: please do NOT eat a TS dinner before the Dessert Party. I recommend a large late lunch instead. Figure that you should be finished with you last meal (finished, not starting) 4 hours before the start of the Dessert Party.

WE did the dessert party a couple of weeks ago and ice cream was still included. We didn't find it too busy and it was great being able to watch Wishes without getting pushed and shoved, so I though it was worth it for that aspect. However we didn't think much of the desserts and I'm a BIG dessert person! The desserts didn't seem to have much taste! Don't think that we would do it again, but I'm glad that we did it once!

We have done the Wishes party once in July 2009 when they were testing it and this will be our second time. For us, with a small child (5 at the time), the opportunity to try different desserts is great but the fact that our daughter can see and doesn't have to fight for a spot and have people step on crowd our space makes this worth the price.

You can't see the parade, so if that's a huge thing for you, save the money. If it is something you can do another day, go for it and treat your group.

There really were a wide variety of treats so hopefully everyone in your party will find something they like.

Ice creme was included last week (Thanksgiving week). I agree that the desserts are bite sized, we enjoyed them, but the people attending didn't seem to think that the desserts would be replaced. This was where the grabbing and pushing that we noticed came into play. They restocked the desserts until about 15 minutes prior to the fireworks. Then left one or two ables of them for people.

One thing we noted was the speed with which the servers cleared plates and cups form the tables. Luckily I had heard this but we still lost several plates of items due to me not speaking to the wait staff in time. Once they had their hands on it they state they had to take it. We had several people getting photopass pics done and the servers took full plates.

I am glad we did it once but I don't think it will happen again for us. The viewing area was great, just too rushed and not relaxing for us. Perhpas it was just the night.
