Can you just go into a restraunt for dessert?? Do they close when the park does?

I'm thinking while at MGM doing this because I'm not too sure my little ones would be OK with Fantasmic, too loud or scary, they're 3 and 22 months, was thinking while most were at the show maybe do a dessert somewhere???

Yes, you can do a dessert just about anywhere. We often do appetizers and dessert because portions are often just too large. Folks are still eating when the parks closes, although I think they discourage walk-ins after the official closing time.

Restaurants generally stop seating patrons at least 15 minutes prior to the park closing time.

If you are looking to eat while fantasmic is playing at MGM, I don't think you should have any problems.

When we were there in Feb, Primetime diner was not taking any walk ups until about 30 mins before Fantasmic began (which of course most didn't want because they wouldn't be done in time to see the show) but my bet would be that the restaurants would be fairly empty during the show.
