Dessert Inn & Suites

Hi all. DH, DD and I have made reservations at this inn for January for DD's b-day. Has anyone ever stayed there? How close to the main gate is it? Thanks for all the help.

We've stayed there a few times and are staying there in 12 days!!! We like it a lot, it is nothing fancy but it is clean and right across the crosswalk. If you make the light, it doesn't even take us 5 minutes to get to the gates. The pool is indoors, but I have never used it. The breakfast isn't much but we dont' use that either.

There are a lot of restaurant choices in close proximity also.
We like it because of the multiple room types available at a great price. Have fun!

Thank you so much. That is what I wanted to know. There are so many hotels that claim to be right across from Disneyland, and then you get there and it takes 20 or 30 minutes to walk. Well, with an almost 10 year old I don't want to be carrying her at the end of the day, especially not that far.

Nope, trust me. With a 10 month old, a 3 year old and a 5 year old, I do no carrying!!! It is right there!!!

It's very close. I stayed there in May and will still there again in October. It's truly right across the street!! No frills, but I'm not looking for frills, just somewhere clean to lay my weary body at night.

No frills works for us...how much will we really be there....My DD is going to love the whole trip though. First time as a family with new DH!

We stayed there 5 years ago and had no issues what so ever. The only thing we found on that trip we had a rental car. And to get a parking spot we had to go in and park early. They are very limited on parking spots for guests.
We are staying there three nights this coming Saturday. I reserved a Parlor Suite A for the two of us.
All we want is a decent place nearby to sleep and shower. And the suite includes a spa. Which I am figuring will be a whirlpool tub. But that is still good.
The price was very good we thought.

Nothing fancy, but right across the street from Disney, very convenient, especially for mid-day nap breaks. We've stayed there for two trips. We get the room with the jacuzzi because the kids like to play in it after a long day at the park and a nap, and before heading out again for the evening festivities. Breakfast is nothing to write home about and neither is the pool. Anyway, you're just there to sleep--this trip is about Disneyland!

We stayed there in Feb, and the breakfast consists of one type of fruit, danish, toast, juice/coffe and milk. They do have cereal available at the gift shop next door for $1.00 a thing. I had brought instant oatmeal, bowls and spoons, and our family was set.

The pool even though it was indoors was cold, and the hot tub was HOT.

Parking is a problem, but we have not found a hotel along Harbor that parking is not a problem.

The hotel is right by the street. Just watch out for the sales people at the Park Vue hotel. We found if we left early we avoided them on the way there and we just had to tell them we were not interested on the way back. I have also heard you can tell them you are from Canada and they will leave you alone as well.

Nothing fancy- but it does the job.

We stayed there this past August and would do so again on future trips. Parking can be troublesome but once you have a spot, you really don't need your car again until you check out if you're only doing Disneyland. Denny's is right next door along with several other restaurants up and down there street. Our favorite was Mimi's Cafe. Great food and extremely reasonable prices.

I sometimes bring peanut butter and bread, too, make a sandwich for breakfast, which the kids can eat in the stroller while we walk to the gate and line up for opening. That way we get to the park early and save our sitdowns for lunch or dinner.

We stayed there the three nights, in a Parlor Suite A. We were on the 5th (and top) floor.
It was nice.
There was a small room just as we opened the door. The room had a TV, sofa, and coffee table. It would have been a great room for kids to play or sleep. The TV was on a dresser. There was a door separating this room and the regular bedroom.
The regular bed area included two beds (king?), TV, more dressers, nightstand, frig w/small freezer, and microwave.
The coffee pot was by the sink. (Which also had a hair dryer.)
I reserved the room because of the jacuzzi tub. The bath tub was LARGE.
Over it was good. The only bad thing (minor) was the window curtain was disgusting on the back side. I only noticed it as I looked out the window.
A viewing deck was right above our room. And that would be a GREAT place for fireworks viewing. We did not see any hotel near us that had such a nice deck, if any at all.
We would not hesitate to stay there again. The distance was probably about the same as if anyone was staying at the Contempory at WDW!
I booked awhile back and only paid $100 a night.
At check in I asked if they accepted AAA. I was told they did, but at that time the room was going for around $30 more than what we were paying.
So it pays to book ahead too.
The room was pretty quiet too. DH said he heard some noise one night. But I think I was too exhausted to hear anything!

Oh -- and they were strict on their 3:00 p.m. check in time. But all staff was very nice.

We stayed there last November and thought it was well worth the money ($100 a night for 2 rooms and 4 queen beds- parlor suite A). It wasn't fancy, but was clean. We had to move on the last night to the Carousel Inn and Suites because they didn't have a room for us for the last night. Even though the Carousel was rated higher in quality on some sites, the room was smaller and needed updating. Some of the wallpaper was ripped off the wall, etc. So in comparison, we would rather stay at the Desert Inn. We have stayed at Candy Cane Inn many times, but they are getting so high if you have to have 2 rooms. It would have cost us at least $200 for that many rooms/beds and they wouldn't guarantee they would be next to each other. So all things considered, it was a good deal.

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback. We have booked the C-1 (2 rooms, 4 beds) suite since there are now 3 adults and my DD. I can't wait. The best part is that the walk won't be horribly bad at the end of the day.
