Desperate, please help

Hi there, :cool1: We leave tomorrow morning (weds) from albany on Southwest to Orlando. Somehow or other I am lost in the system with Magical Express. :furious: TA promises to have everything worked out.. but this year for me has been the pits , so I can't rely on promises.

I need to rent a car in Orlando, as cheap as possible.. any ideas? It will be me, hubby and DD7.

Give all your info...what date and time to pick up and drop off the car, and what size car you need.

My plane arrives in Orlando at 2:10 pm on August 16th... We'll be in Orlando until August 22nd until 1p.m. (flight is at4 p.m. to return home.)

Size car I think would be midsize, even compact would do... It will just be the 3 of us...

CALL DME NOW, as long as you're in the system you can ride DME. It's too late to get luggage tags. Either grab your own bags, DME is directly below the SW baggage carousels, or give you luggage tags to the DME CM and Disney will get your bags for you.

Hi Robin!

If the ME doesn't work out, here's a car rental option. For your dates (which are almost the same as mine!), I have found Thrifty to be the cheapest. I plugged in your date/time, and using the "WMRT" code, the rate comes to $75 base/$102.63 inclusive.

I tried National... ugh, went up to $130 inclusive for intermediate - was cheaper a few days ago.

Just check the cancellation policy - National seems to have a 24hour policy.

Maybe see you at Pop! I'll be dragging around three kids by myself :crazy:

Has your TA been the one dealing with DME. That could be your problem. I agree with Lewis call Disney DIRECTLY today and you can probably get this fixed.

However, if you want a car try the codes on mousesavers.com National has had some great rates for the next few weeks based on posts here.

I've called DME since last week and they can't find me. My TA who I trust implicitly and used last year without a problem is trying to fix this. Something went wrong somewhere (it's been a bead year here!) and I'm stressed of waiting and promises of it will be taken care of. I just feel I need to rent the car and get away from this problem.

To be honest I'm sorry I canceled my autotrain to fly SW. The rates were great ($49 each way) and I couldn't help myself! But now with the prblems with the airports, and now ME.. I should've just taken the train!

Relax....

This is Disney. They will not leave a resort guest stranded at the airport. You will probably need to pick up your own bags at baggage claim, but you should still be able to hitch a ride on DME. Call them today and bring your reservation with you. Go to the DME desk at the airport and let Disney take care of you. It won't be as stressful as you think. :cool1:

I agree with susancl. Don't worry about the luggage tags. (I opted to take my own luggage on with me) so that's not an issue. Just get your luggage from baggage claim and go down to MME. I agree that they won't leave you stranded. First of all, there's only 3 of you. They should definitely let you on the bus. Don't be stressed. It will all work out. You will have a WONDERFUL time. If your TA can't fix it, just have her type up a letter for you explaining what happened and you can also hand that to them along with your reservation. since TA promises you all is ok.

1st-- call DME and check once again.

2nd -- if no record just show up at DME check-in desk (since TA said all is well)

3rd-- if DME won't let you on ( which I doubt) just go over to the MEARS desk and buy your tickets. They will get you there.

4th-- keep receipt from MEARS and present it to your TA for reminbursement. Since her promise didn't turn out to be true and it cost you money.


5th -- forget all the above and rent the car

take a cab! it's easy, esp for only 3 people... they're right at the curb... and ENJOY :flower:
