Hello all you incredibly talented DISigners! I've always been amazed at the stunningly beautiful creations that you have come up with. Over the summer, I made over 50 shirts for our WDW trip using some of the wonderful talents on this board. (I'll be posting the images as soon as I get the photos!)

This time I was wondering if I could post a special request. My sister and I will be taking a long weekend in WDW, and I'd love to make matching shirts for the two of us. Here is our story for inspiration.....

About 7 years ago, our mother died after a 3 year fight with cancer. Our family was spread about the country, and Mom was the glue that held us together. With young families, it was often hard to make time to stay in touch with siblings, but we knew that a phone call to Mom would always keep us up on what was going on. Shortly after she died, my sister and I decided that we were going to make a concerted effort to do better about staying in touch and getting together. We developed the "Linda Chapdelaine Memorial Weekend", where we pledged to get together, just the two of us, at least once a year to try to do something 'different'. For example, one year we went to a Cooking Expo, when neither of us is much of a cook.

This year, I was lucky enough to win a trip for two to WDW for 4 days, including hotel and park passes, but it had to be taken before the end of the year. Because my husband had taken off 10 days for our trip in Sept, he wouldn't be able to go. I immediately called my sister and this "LCMW" was set for November at WDW!! We are both really excited about doing WDW as grown-ups, but aren't afraid to be big kids either. Thus, we are hoping for matching shirts!

A couple of images that I hoped to incorporate were butterflies and pennies. I know that it sounds strange, but both of those things have special meaning for us. My sister says that when they find pennies on the ground, she knows that Mom is sending them. Kind of a "penny for your thoughts", I guess. With the butterflies, when Mom was in hospice, she said that if she got to come back as something she would choose to be a butterfly and fly around checking on all her family. It still shocks me to see a butterfly show up just when I know Mom would want to remind me to do the right thing or make the right choice.

I've gone on long enough. If there is anyone that might be interested in taking up this unusual design, we'd love your help!

Thank you very much!!!

What a wonderful story. I am not a very creative DISigner. MICKEY (Amy) does great non-Disney stuff so could probably do something with the butterflies and pennies. there are other really, really talented ladies here also. Amy, before she stopped DISigning Disney she did sister ones and quite a few them can be found here.

If you like any of the DISigns in my account (most of them don't have names) I can edit any of the ones in the account or add names.

 I was moved by your story. I too lost my mom to cancer and really no longer have a relationship with my only sibling. Wish we would have come up with something like this

I gave a shot at the design :goodvibes

What an absolutely beautiful interpretation of that story. Now I'm all teary. What a wonderful tribute to your mom OP..

I am a little disapointed at the ribbon heart. It is exactly what I want but I cannot find a clearer image of it. If anyone can find a clearer one, I would gladly redo the whole thing.

what a wonderful design

OP I am sorry for you and your sister's loss, but what a blessing that in the mist of sorrow you rediscovered each other. I will be thinking about you, your sister, your mom's legacy, and your trip.:grouphug:

Aww, thanks! I am still not happy with the heart, so I gave another shot. Don't you just hate when you can't find exactly what you are looking for :rotfl:
