This going to be a weird question but I put in a request for the days off work before my departure date and they were all approved. So I am approved for 3 days prior to my official leaving date - does this mean I can leave physically before then or is there a process that is actually done on the departure date other than having to be physically moved out/apartment clean/return the housing ID?

I'm thoroughly amazed they approved days off the week of your departure. I got denied saying I wasn't allowed to request the 7 days prior to my departure date off. Anyway, once you know your last day of work you can leave that day after work or the next morning. The only thing you need to do is turn in your housing ID and physically move out. They will probably tell you that you need to turn in your blue ID but no one does. Just say you need to use it that day or something.

How did you do that? Just wondering

I just said I needed the days off to move out, to visit my family and make sure my process of visiting my family goes well, it was fine. I also requested it about 6 months early. I can't say there is any magic to it. I've heard of people doing similar things and getting it approved. I've only asked for 3 days day off, the actual day off and 2 days prior to my departure date just to ensure I didn't get a 3 am shift on the day I had to actually leave, and given I work on Main Street, that is actually a very real possibility.

I think it is more about when you request it and how early just like any other requests. I didn't pull any strings. I've heard many things about hit and miss before about it. I've heard about people getting denied for the day of their graduation and other people being easily approved. Who knows but them?

I'm nor sure if this is the same in Disney World (I worked at Disneyland), but I had to turn my ID in at the end of my last shift, and one of my managers was supposed to walk me back to costuming (they didn't because we were crazy busy and then security got annoyed). I was told if you don't turn in your ID, you risk not being allowed to be re-hired.

I did the same. I requested it 6 and a half months in advance and got rejected for it about 2 weeks later. Oh well at least you got the time you needed off! :)

One of my roommates was an alumni and he kept his ID from his first program and was rehired no problem. I never turned in my ID and I got rehired. Everyone was saying that if you didn't turn it in if you ever worked for Disney again they'd take the cost of the ID out of your first paycheck. :confused3 I have no idea how true that is though.
