:surfweb: Just wondering how many of you would consider a character breakfast on your last day and how many of you have done it before? If you have done one what were your experiences and which restaurant did you eat at?
We've been looking at 1900 Park Fare (which seems a good place) since Virgin are offering it as one of their bookable extras and it could be a good way to enjoy out last Disney meal and then not need a great deal for lunch at MCO and still have room for dinner.:surfweb:

I think it sounds a good idea. :thumbsup2 We've been to the Character lunch at CP on our last day before which was fine and I'm wondering whether to book something for our last day in October...

Sounds a wonderful idea ~ We haven't done a Character breakfast on our departure days, we have done Kona Cafe and Boma though. Usually a lovely way to end a terrific holiday:cool1:

we did chef mickeys last time we went on departure day :thumbsup2 it was a lovely way to end the holiday

:wave2: Hi Natalie we will be at Chef Mickey's for breakfast on July 3rd it's becoming a "family tradition" for us to do a breakfast there, we don't manage it every trip but we've been able to fit it in on this one:yay: we just love the atmosphere and the characters are always fun and interact well with our DS.

What a great idea, I'd never of thought of doing a character breakfast on our departure day. The last day of a holiday is so sad - what a great what to make it a happy one - breakfast with Pooh. pooh:

We did the 1900 Park Faire breakfast booked through Virgin the first time we went (there is a report about it in my honeymoon report link in my signature). The breakfast itself was great and it was a lovely way to end our holiday. The only thing I would say is that the Virgin package included being picked up from our hotel, taken to the GF for brekkie, then taken to DTD to do check in, then picked up from DTD (instead of our hotel) to go to the airport. If you have your own car and won't be using the Virgin transfers, then I would certainly book it direct with Disney World dining,r athner than paying the Virgin prices. I think we paid about £28 or £29 each, IIRC, and the breakfast itself only costs now about £11 or £12 depending on exchange rate. So definitely a huge rip-off if you don't need the transport side of it as well. We did need the transport so, for us, it was a great way to spend our last day :thumbsup2

We did breakfast at Crystal Palace with Pooh a few years ago. My DS was only about four or five, and he loved Pooh! His little face was a picture when he saw him!
So really all depends on which character you prefer?!
Certainly worth doing!

Hi,

We did Ohana character breakfast on our final day in 2005 and it was fantastic. We made a later reservation and made our way over there after checking out from CBR. We had a leisurely meal and lots of character interaction, plus a great server, and it was a wonderful end to our holiday.

We also had Crystal Palace breakfast on our first morning - nice and early reservation (we get up around 5 on the first day with the time difference!) so you get to walk down main street before the park opens! Again, a great start to the holiday.

We did the Departure Day breakfast with Virgin last year (was 1900 Park Fare brekkie then.) It was great for us because we didn't have transport, so had free travel to GF and then onto DTD. Disadvantage was we were the first to be pick up, so had to be up before the sun! :scared1: It was still dark when the transport arrived. However, the transport was awesome - a stretched limo!!!!! :goodvibes

We, and two other families were picked up. All luggage is loaded into the trailer, and it securely locked while you have breakfast, then you are taken to DTD to check-in and away you go. I suppose the other downside to it for us, with no car, was it takes a lifetime to get from DTD to any park and visa versa to get back for transfer. But even so, we managed to get to AK, did EE and Primeval Whirl several times, did some other bits, went back to DTD, did some shopping and still had time to spare before transfer was due!

It was a brilliant way to spend the last day. It is certainly very advantageous for anyone staying off-site with no transportation. When you add the meal and what a cab would have cost, you kind of break even, so not quite sure how someone staying on-site with a car might fair.

Since we are on-site this year, we won't be doing it. We already have 1900 Park Fare brekkie sorted, as well as our last day - DTD for check-in, hop over to TL, stay there all day, eat at Planet Hollywood, and get transfer from DTD to airport.

I'm not sure I could cope with a character breakfast on my last day. I'm all emotional about going home anyway and think I might be a little too tearful to enjoy it properly.
I certainly wouldn't book it over here because as Joh said unless you really want all the extras the cost is rather over the top.

:yay: Our rep Linda rang us back last night about some queries we had (I had emailed a few questions to her) and the cost for the Departure Day Breakfast and the Shopping Extravaganza day for the three of us worked out at about £150 which is reasonable (£25 pppd) thank goodness for the great exchange rate at the moment:goodvibes
So once we get another email from Linda comfirming our extras I can cancel an ADR from our intinerary (LTT lunch) we'll get vouchers included with our tickets before we leave. The Shopping Extravaganza picks up at out hotel and drops off there too we get breakfast and I think lunch included too. We still have a few unplanned days to play with so we'll have time to park hop and go to the cinema at DTD etc:cloud9: The Departure Day Breakfast seems the ideal way to end our stay and we don't have to worry about our luggage and the check-in looks great, if we do get hungry at lunch time we can eat at DTD before we get to the airport:cloud9:

Dh and I have done the GF breakfast and DD checkin twice and we love it. For us the only draw back was getting picked up at the hotel at 7am which made the go home day rather long... BUT we love the GF breakfast and the mad hatter is great and it's the only place I've ever seen him, so that's kinda fun! Getting our cases dealt with in the morning is such a good thing too. We are usually through all of that by 11am so we then have until about 4pm to do what we like.
I am always tearful on my last day... but have never been so at the breakfast... on our last trip it was during the parade in MK with the song 'just believe and your dreams will come true'... (oh well!)
It's a fab way to end your trip IMHO, and well worth the money for the hassle free last day!

We will be fine with the early start to get up and ready before we go for the breakfast all the packing will be done anyway and we are usually awake at 6.30am on our last day:) .We'd rather be busy at the character breakfast and DTD soaking up the last drops of magic:thumbsup2 it should make us tired on the plane on the way home and with any luck DS will be having a nap on the train home too.
