The Journey Thursday 11th March
The Cast: Me 30 something total planner for holiday
DW 30 something likes a quiet life
DD 13 going on 21 total poser has an answer for everything
DS 10 nearly 11 loves soccer and winding us up
While DW finished of last minute packing I went to work to tie up loose ends kids went to school as normal better to annoy their friends or teachers than us taxi was due at 5.30 pm to take us to Edinburgh airport for first part of journey taxi arrived on time we where at airport about 6pm we checked in for our 8.40 pm flight to Gatwick after checking in we went and got a meal at the pub in the airport now I did mention my DS is an avid soccer fan and on this night the team we both support had a major game Celtic against Barcelona 8 pm kick off we headed to Dixons and bought a world radio so we could listen to the first half our flight left on time and got us into Gatwick about 9.50 pm our luggage arrived about 30 minutes later as they are upgrading parts of Gatwick which meant our luggage had to be brought in by truck and taken off by hand we headed to the taxi stand as we had a family room booked in the travel inn we checked in about 10.35 pm only £6 in taxi which was pretty reasonable as we would have been £10 on the courtesy bus we settled in our room and we managed to get the news so we could get the final score of the match yippee Celtic won 1-0 and that stupid radio I bought was now broken we all settled down about 11.30 pm after juice and sandwiches.
Friday 12th March
We awoke at 6.15 am showered and got ready then called for a taxi to get to airport we checked in by 7.30 am we had already pre-booked our seats after going through security etc we had breakfast and I returned the radio to Dixons with receipt for a full refund which they handled with no fuss so no harm done our flight left on time and we touched down about 2 pm Orlando time after clearing customs and getting our luggage we looked for our driver no sign (not a good sign) DW went off to travel agent desk as we had to pick up DC tickets while she was waiting our limo turned up yippee kids and DW where impressed big white stretch limo so we all piled in and had a nice cool drink and watched shrek on way to RPR we arrived about 3.40 pm first problem our limo driver wanted $80 more than I was quoted over internet we paid this at end of holiday despite trying to speak to their manager over 14 days over there no joy so I would say do not use payless transport as they reneged on our deal but was not going to let it spoil our holiday our check in was painless they took a note of my lowes no at check in after dumping our bags in 1341 our new home for two weeks we headed to the parks to get our passes I tried to get a discount on my AP with the fan club card but no joy but still thought $500 for a AP and 3 Power Passes was good value, ok so now to see how this room key works we hit hulk 3 times spidey 2 times JP river adventure 1 time storm force 1 time wandered through shops hey its 6.45 pm now wow pretty good but remember to us its almost midnight and weve been up since 6 am we headed to city walk and went into Nascar it was very busy told an hour wait should room key and AP as both here get u ps so was hoping with 2 might speed it up and hey we only waited 25 minutes so I had a beer at the bar while kids wandered through arcade DW was very tired we ordered 2 kids burgers and fries and the adults had 2 of the pork pulled sandwiches the food was great after AP discount $33 very reasonable after dinner we got boat back to hotel kids in bed by
9.30 pm me and DW unpacked cases unfortunately a pack of laundry tablets we packed had exploded in case on joy we got too bed about 11.00 pm very tired still the holidays begun
