We are flying into Denver this weekend to ski at Copper Mountain. We would like to stop on the way to buy groceries before we get to our resort. We will be driving on 70. Problem is that it will be dark and it is hard to see what exits have stores nearby.

Any help or suggestions?

In Frisco, there is a Safeway and a Walmart not too far off I-70. We normally stay in Breckenridge and get groceries there but I have stopped in Frisco before. Have fun!!

When comming down on Pena Blvd if you get off on Green Valley Ranch Blvd and turn left, there is a King soopers about a 1/4 mile away. it is on Tower and Green Valley Ranch, there is also a super walmart down the road. Easy on and off.

No grocery store tips but have a great trip!!! We went skiing in Breckenridge last winter and it was awesome! Luckily we have family we stay with in Denver and Breck so we didn't need any food.

I like the City Market (run by Kroger Stores) in Dillon. It's maybe a 3 minute drive off the Dillon exit (which is at the bottom of the long downhill after you go through Eisenhower Tunnel). There's lots of restaurants around there if you feel like stopping for a bite to eat. From there it's probably a 15-20 minute drive to Copper Mountain.

Don't know how long you are staying, but I-70 heading east (toward DIA) on both this Sunday and Monday (since it's a holiday) is very likely to be stop and go traffic, so if you need to catch a flight those days, plan accordingly and have a full tank of gas. There's many daytripper skiers in CO and they all try to get to the ski area when it opens and everybody leaves around the same time. Leaving the mountains between 12:00p - 4:30p on those days is going to add 2-4 hours of driving time. Looks like the weather should be clear though, so driving conditions should be good.

This is definitely something to keep in mind. I forgot it's a holiday weekend. I-70 will be a mess :( Definitely plan for some traffic.
