Planning March trip. Booked Beach Club on property for the convenience of walking to Epcot and DHS, and thought I had the basic frame of our trip finished....Until Hubby read an article about off property hotels occupancy running very low resulting in deep discounts. We'd like to take advantage of the savings - though it would mean we'd have to rent a car and the car rental rates are looking pretty steep as in over $100 per day for a minivan. This means the hotel savings would need to be rather significant to offset the additional minivan expense.

We'd like to stay at a deluxe/luxury hotel convenient to WDW as we will spend all of our time in WDW. We do intend to go back to the hotel for mid-day breaks on at least some of the days, and plan to get hoppers. Pool rating is a consideration but not priority as while our kids will enjoy a pool, we won't be spending even half a day hanging out at the pool.

I'm completely unfamiliar with off property hotels as I've never been to Orlando and I did all my research aimed at choosing an on property hotel. The thought of starting at ground zero for hotels is tiring just to think about!

Can anyone give me some leads to hotels that I should check out? Thanks!

I have found that car rentals haven't come down, but they come down closer to the dates. I also find that you sometimes have to wait for the calendar to change to the new year for rates to change, so looking after 1/1 may be helpful. Luckily most hotels are not prepaid and don't require a deposit. Keep scouring for hotel deals and if you find a good one go ahead and book while still holding your BC reservation in hopes of a cheap car rental rate closer to your date. If you can find a good offsite hotel/car deal then just keep your BC reservation.

If you want to be pretty much onsite..yet considered offsite, I'd suggest Bonnet Creek Resort. It's a timeshare resort right next door to the Caribbean Beach Resort. www.wyndhambonnetcreek.com

We have stayed here a couple times and will be there again in February. We are paying $149 a night for a 2 bedroom including all taxes. It really is on par with the Disney deluxe resorts. You will, however, have to pay the daily parking fee at the parks ($14?) and don't get the extra magic hours.

But each room has a full kitchen, spa tub, washer/dryer. One bedroom has a king, the other has two doubles and there is a full size pull out in the living room.

Really hard to pay Disney prices when you can stay here for a fraction of the cost.

A lot of people rent through www.vacationupgrades.com.

Hope this helps! Have a wonderful trip!
