How much is a credit "worth" on the Deluxe plan? (I am talking about 2011)

I tried to find an answer, but didn't come up with anything through search!

I'm not sure what this means - how much is it worth in money terms? Or how much food can you redeem one for?

As far as the second part:

For a counter service meal: Entree or combo meal, dessert and beverage (except breakfast, where in 2010 you would get a second beverage instead of the dessert, and in 2011 you would just get the entree or combo meal and one beverage)

For a table service meal: Appetizer (lunch or dinner only), entree and dessert (juice substitutes at breakfast in 2010 only), or a full buffet, plus one non-alcoholic beverage.

I'm sorry I didn't explain myself well :lmao:

I mean in order to break even on the plan how much do we need to "spend" at each meal

There was a long thread about the dining plan that included a breakdown, but here is a simple version:

Plan costs $78.99/day for 3 meals and 2 snacks. If we assume snacks are an average of $3 each (low estimate), that leaves $72.99 for the meals. Divide that by three and you get $24.33. Thus, for a 1 credit meal, you need to spend $24.33 and for a 2 credit meal, you need to spend $48.66

Please note that I have not forgotten the mug - I've ignored it. The effect of the mug on your "break even point" changes depending on the number of nights you are staying (it has less of an effect the more nights you stay).

You made me smile with the I have ignored it comment :lmao:

Thank you, we are going during free dining, and have upgraded to Deluxe, I want to make sure that we are going to fully use the plan, otherwise it is silly to pay the extra.

Note that those values are "on average". It's okay to be "sub-optimal" for some meals if others are making up for it. For example, breakfasts and lunches tend to be less expensive meals, based on OOP prices, so "breaking even" there or being slightly under is fine, as long as dinner makes up for it, which it will.

Similarly, counter service typically isn't a "good use" of DxDP credits, but some CS can be balanced out with more "efficient" plan usage elsewhere.

A lot of people try to order the most expensive items on a menu so they can feel like they've gotten their money's worth.

Really, the best thing to do is just order what you like and stop worrying about the cost. As long as you don't come home with a ton of unused credits, you'll be fine. Disney food is very expensive!

And don't forget that your tip is based on what you eat, so if you do order the most expensive thing on the menu in order to maximize your money's worth, you will be paying out more in tips.

When I did calculations to see if DxDP was worth it, there are meals where I didn't choose an appetizers and others where I didn't choose a dessert and I chose what based on my tastes. I still came out ahead with the DxDP.

We did DxDDP back in Christmas 08. Here's a list of what we hit while there.

12/27: (we were at in-laws that morning, and at breakfast at their house)
Flame Tree BBQ Lunch (CS)
Yak & Yeti Dinner

12/28
Crystal Palace Breakfast
Cosmic Ray's Lunch (CS)
Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner

12/29
Pop Century Breakfast (CS)
50's Prime Time Cafe
Sci-Fi Dine In

12/30
Akurshus Breakfast
Teppan Edo Lunch
Le Cellier Dinner

12/31
Tusker House Breakfast
Whispering Canyon Lunch
Chef Mickey's Dinner
(note: do NOT eat 3 buffets again in one day!)

01/01
To make up difference from CRT, we were going light for breakfast this day, and were plannign on using some snack credits for breakfast. At 2 per day, this was a lot. We ended up being sick, and skipping breakfast.

Cap'n Jack's (DTD) Lunch
Pop Century Dinner (CS). While we ate lunch this day, we ended up cancelling our Dinner rezzie at May Grill, and eating stuff from the Pop CS place.

01/02
Akurshus Breakfast
Marakesh Lunch
Coral Reef Dinner

01/03
Crystal Palace Breakfast
Cosmic Ray's Lunch (CS)
Liberty Tree Dinner

01/04:
Pop Century Breakfast (CS)

So here's what we did:

Crystal Palace x2 (2/24)
Akurshus x2 (4/24)
Yak & Yeti (5/24)
Cinderella's Royal Table (double points) (7/24)
50's Prime Time Cafe (8/24)
Sci-Fi Dine In (9/24)
Teppan Edo (10/24)
Le Cellier (11/24)
Tusker House (12/24)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (13/24)
Chef Mickey's (14/24)
Cap'n Jack's (15/24)
Marakesh (16/24)
Coral Reef (17/24)
Liberty Tree (18/24)

Flame Tree BBQ (CS) (19/24)
Cosmic Ray's (CS) x2 (21/24)
Pop Century (CS) x3 (24/24)

Each person had 24 'credits' since we were there for 8 nights. Becuase we ate at more higher prices places, and more buffets, we still came out ahead on the pricing. Which I think was less in 2008 than this year.

Hope this helps.

Thank you all so much for all this info! This is exactly what I was looking for!

We are not the type to order the most expensive meal, but I don't want to upgrade to deluxe if it doesn't make sense financially
