Sorry, I'm new here. No avatar or cool siggie. :cool1: First time returning to Disney since our Honeymoon in 1995!!! And we are returning with 3 additions to the family.

So Is the deluxe going to be too much? :confused3

My plan is to have a breakfast OR lunch and a dinner reservation at a 1 pt. TS restaurant. And then to grab counter service for either breakfast or lunch depending on the reservations. But I just realized that my DD is on the adult plan at the age of 10! And an appetizer, entree and desert x3 is going to be WAY too much for all of us!!! She prefers to order off the adult menu so it's not like she's getting a kid's meal or anything. Her and I usually split when we go out for dinner. I have two other kiddos that will be happily ordering kids meals and might snack on some of the appies.

I do have one dinner show booked so that will use up some of those extra credits. But we aren't really "signature" restaurant types as a family, so I'm not sure that we can eat up some of those credits that way either.

Is it really wasteful to use the counter service over the table service when you are on deluxe?

Is there some tip for using those appetizer credits towards something else that might be useful later on in the day?

Do the entrees usually come with sides or is it just a slab 'o meat on the plate?

argghhh! Why does this have to be sooo hard? I may have to scale back. I think it would have been ok but that's way too much food for a 10 yr. old. And I'm pretty sure we are paying for that app? Maybe I should just let it go? :confused3

Anyway, still happy to be going. I just need some help with this. :goodvibes

Yay for deluxe dining plan!

I think that you would benefit from the CS (counter service) meals with a family of 5. Especially since your 10 y/o will not eat that much. I believe the counter service meals would be more appropriate for her. I feel that 10 is too young to be a part of the adult menu. I can understand 12 y/o, but 10 is too young. That is why I suggest CS during the majority of your trip.

Usually the entrees come with a side, along with the main part of the meal. Something like a cole slaw or mashed potatoes, as an example.

Hope this helps.

The rule of thumb is that you're fine on DxDP if you use at least 2/3 of your credits for TS.

Not really. You're better off trying to get desserts "to go" for later in the day (non-perishable ones, of course, unless you plan on toting a cooler) and eat the appetizers at meal time.

Most entrees come with some form of starch and vegetable. Places that have separately listed "sides" don't allow you to choose them, but the entree plate has something on it already.
