Deluxe dining plan question

This is the only one I have come across so far, when looking over the menus.

I suspect it isn't. But I was struck by the great relief from wait staff that we weren't on a DDP.

We have encountered the exact same thing numerous times. The wait staff always seems SO relieved when guests are not on the dining plan!

We use the dining plan all the time and have never been told we could not order something we wanted. We also have never had a server seem concerned that they would have to charge our meal to the dining plan.

Everyone has to decide for themselves if the dining plan works for their family. Sometimes it does for us and sometimes it doesn’t. I do love the ease of it though. Not worrying about money at mealtime

I think honestly I just love the idea of saving money considering how expensive Disney is... I don't mind crunching the numbers to try to figure out exactly what the best deal is! But to be honest, in order to get value out of the meal plan, you have to eat a TON. When we were there last Sept on the meal plan we stayed pretty stuffed the whole time and are some decadent desserts/snacks we never would have ordered if it wasn't "free". I think if we eat reasonably then the cheaper bottom line is paying out of pocket for meals and hopefully scoring a room-only discount. Thank you everyone for your guidance!

I don't doubt that you found something you wanted. But I am gathering there were items on the menu you could not have ordered with the dining plan.

My wife says it was the dinner we had at Garden View Tea Room in the Grand Floridian. But when I check the WDW website, it says it isn't on the dining plan at all. So maybe that was the issue. Has it always not been on the dining plan?

Have you looked at the menus on allears.net?

The DIS host site, wdwinfo.com, provides pretty much all menus http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningmain.cfm including an interactive option. No need to send anyone elsewhere

We have done the DDP with all Disney Adults and while we love it, it is a ton of food. We miss out on our favorite snacks because we are too full to get them. We waste a lot of foods on our plates because we pace ourselves to be sure we can eat dessert too! We like two sit down meals a day and doing a signature every night but I would not have ever done that with a toddler. Counter Service meals are a terrible value on the DDP. Only once have we ever use a credit for CS and that was for an 8:00 AM BOG.
