I recently read that DVC members no longer need to book the dining plan during their entire stay but can book it on select days. Such as every 3 days of your reservation. My question is if I booked the deluxe dining plan for the night I arrive I would have 3 dining credit correct. Would I be able to use one for a signature dining experience the evening I check in and then the remaining credit for dinner the following evening. I just want to make sure I could utilize it in this manner before I book it. Please let me know if this makes sense and if it would work-thanks!

I would also love to read info on this topic. How can you book DDP for only select days? When we asked about adding it for an upcoming trip, we were told that we had to add it for our entire travel party for the entire length of our reservation. What's the trick to breaking it up?

If you get deluxe dining for one day (the day of check-in), it's good until midnight on the night of check-out (which is the next day for you).

You can get your dining plans split up over your stay if you book the room correcltly. That is, you need to "segment" your reservation into segments. The segments need to reflect the way you want to break up your dining plans.

I'm leaving in 3 weeks and have a segmented plan for the first time since they switched to the new computer system. As of the new year, MS tells me that it should work correctly. We will just have to see.

This is a brand new process, so it wasn't available previously.

You definitely have to segment your room reservation with the way you want to break up the DDP. This means you will have to check out and check back in, but you won't have to move rooms. I will be going for 3 nights this summer, and I wanted the DxDDP for the 2nd night. I have 3 different reservations (one for each night) that are linked.

Day 1: check in (no DDP)
Day 2: check out, check in (DxDDP: TS lunch + Ohana dinner, keep KTTW card with remaining dining credit)
Day 3: check out, check in (no DDP but use remaining DxDDP credit for lunch at LC)
Day 4: check out

A little confusing, but being able to get the DxDDP for just the one night instead of all 3 nights is great! We will be arriving late on Day 1 and leaving early on Day 4 so we have no need for 9 meals! We will be there only 2 full days. I love this change!

I spoke to MS yesterday and today about this. They told me that for my upcoming trip in february where I have different dining plans, I do not have to check in and out. I will get one KTTW card and that will be good for the length of stay. We will see how it goes.

Well, that would be nice! I hope that is the case. It will save a lot of time. Even if I have to check in and out, I think it will be worth it to be able to get the savings I'll be getting!

I didn't think it could just be me having this idea. Get in before it's disallowed :confused3

WDW wants to increase the revenue flow from DVC and this is a way to accomplish it for members who would never buy the same DDP for evey day of the whole stay. As informed DVC members we will likely average a higher per day cost to WDW than your average CRO guest on DDP, but they will still be making a healthy profit. Theyare getting $260 from me this trip which would otherwise be going off site to the grocery store
