Deluxe Dining Plan Appetizer Question

We will be at WDW next week and are on the Deluxe Dining Plan. My mother will be with us and is not an eater. She has asked me if ahe could get an appetizer as her appetizer and then get another appetizer as her entre. I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with this.

While I don't know, I would highly doubt it. And, even if she could, what an incredible waste of the DxDDP.

One thing I've noticed with older people is that they don't "get" that not eating every bite is OKAY. My mother simply cannot stand to order a meal and let it go to "waste." But, you're paying so much for the DxDDP that it would be a bigger waste to not order a regular meal.

I wonder if, maybe, you'd have better luck sharing a meal (or the appetizers). For instance, does every single person at the table want an appetizer? Maybe someone would prefer no appetizer or the appetizers could be passed around...in which case, maybe you could save your mother's meal credits for another meal.

Just a thought. But I think it'd be a terrible waste of money to use the DxDDP that way, even if you could.

While it seems like it wouldn't be a problem getting an appetizer as an entree, I've heard enough reports of this not being allowed that I simply wouldn't count on being able to do it. Never hurts to ask, but don't let a "no" ruin any plans. It seems to be variable by restaurant, server, and/or day and time.

Agreeing with the above poster, passing on an appetizer if the entree will be enough will likely be a better use of the plan.
