We've only stayed in Values.
One night, our last night, mid December, after six nights at All Star Sp, free dining - I have access to 40% off deluxe resorts, thanks to the Military discount!
I have holds at AKL for $251, and a studio at Boulder Ridge Villas at the Wilderness Lodge for $311
I'd like a standard room at the WL for that last night, not available at this time.
So for now of those choices which would you go with?
Or perhaps another option, I'm all ears? (:

At Christmas I would go with the Grand Floridian first or Wilderness Lodge second if I could get a rate I liked.

What park do you want to do that day? Maybe stay at the resort closest to it. We stayed AK on our last trip and it was amazing! Like it was mentioned, the animals are fun to watch, it has 2 awesome pools. BOMA is excellent! Cute little playground. Nice grounds to walk around. You definitely can't go wrong staying there. However, it is a 20 minute ride to MK. If you like to do MK on your last day (like we do), I might be tempted to stay at WL just to be a little closer.

AKL!

Do you plan to go to parks during that time--or would you spend most of the time enjoying the resort? I lean towards AKL, especially if you won't be going to the parks during that time.

As much as I love Wilderness Lodge, if you are not returning to the parks for your last night and morning and you just want to relax at the hotel, then I would probably pick AKL--such a beautiful resort with great restaurants....that said.........
Wilderness Lodge is wonderful - and we love the watercraft to MK and Contemporary...its fun to go see GF, Poly and Contemporary decorated for Christmas so if you selected WL you could do that if you weren't going to the parks...or combine that idea with one last fling at MK! You do have more options for moving around easier at WL:)
You won't be disappointed with either one!

That's a tough one. WL and AKL are similar in style as far as the resort itself goes but AKL does, obviously have the animals. In my opinion, WL does Christmas better than AKL so there is that. I suppose it would depend on two things. If you are not planning on going to the parks, AKL might be the better choice since it's less. If you are planning on going to MK and the $60 doesn't break the bank, I'd probably go for WL.

AKL is our favorite Disney resort, but if you had your heart set on a standard view room at the WL, you may want to stick with your WL Villa. WL at Christmas is amazing, hands down the most Christmasy thing we've ever done on Disney property. When we stayed there, there were Christmas carolers in the lobby one night, another time Mickey and Minnie were doing a M&G in the lobby in Victorian Christmas outfits. Not sure if that's common, but that was our experience! And the atmosphere, the woodsy Pacific NW feel, seems custom made for Christmas. Both AKL and WL have the ginormous Christmas trees in the lobby too!

Either AKL or WL will be an incredible experience in December! Whatever you pick will be outstanding! Enjoy!

Out of those choices I would say WL, I do need t like AKL, it is a lot like WL and the animals are okay, but they play drums up until 10 or after, we could not sleep at all, all we could hear are drums banging in your ears, by the time it stopped around 11 maybe later, you were so frustrated and anxious that you could not sleep. Plus unless you are going to AK you are so far away from everything.

Now if I had other resorts to choose from one of the top would still be WL especially at Christmas, or GF, or BWI to be near Epcot or HS. I also like Contemporary, I hate BLT but love contemporary, espically the garden wing rooms, so peaceful and nice.

Tough choice, but in Dec I would choose the WL. It is perfect for the time of year with lovely decorations. You can walk over to FW for more activities and options. Plus you have the boat to get to the monorail resorts for their dining and activities.

Either way you go, have fun!!

That is tough...but I think for the time of year you're going, WL is better. Especially since it would be your preference. As others have said though, if you're planning to do a resort day that day...AKL gets the edge.

WL and Boulder Ridge will be beautiful for Christmas. Lobbies will be decorated very nicely.
