Hello,

Because of Fantasmic being closed in September I am considering leaving earlier (Aug 30) so I can catch both the EP and Fantasmic. My question is, since I already bought my 8 day hopper vouchers from GAT, would i be able to upgrade my hopper tickets to a deluxe AP once i'm there since I will need more than 8 days afterall?

Also, since Aug 30-31 are both blocked out dates for the Deluxe AP, would i be able to use my 8 day park hopper for 2 days (Aug 30-31) and then on Sept 1, go to the ticket booth and have it upgraded to an AP?

Thanks alot for your help!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Yes, you would be able to upgrade them in August and you can use them before upgrading - which is good because Aug 30-31 are Saturday and Sunday - both MM days - so you can use those before upgrading :thumbsup2 As long as the price of the AP is more than the price of the 8-day park hoppers, it's all good.

Thanks!! Thats a good tip! I didnt even think of the MM. What is the limit for upgrading to an AP, can I upgrade it on my last day (day # 8) ??? Thanks again!!!

Yes, you can upgrade on your last day. I believe you have to do this at the AP office (the Bank on Main Street).

Sure you could, but you would miss out on all the discounts related to having an AP. I would upgrade it as soon as you have used those two MM's. The effective date will be retroactive to the first day you entered the parks on your hoppers you are upgrading from.

He wants to use the park hoppers durring the black out days then upgrade to the deluxe annual pass. If he upgrades early then he'll be blacked out! ;)

That's great! I paid my ticket $204 and the AP is $260 a much better deal than buying an additional 3 day hopper!!!! Also, do you know if the 10% off dining is applicable to most fast food/sit down restaurants In DL DCA and DD?
Thank you SO much!!!:)

I know about the dining discount, but what other discounts would I be getting with the AP? Thanks! (I'm so excited!!!!)

Not "black out" -- that is this: :faint: Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.

The BLOCK OUT days are Aug 30 and 31 which are also the MM days, so I'm not saying upgrade early. I'm saying use up the MM days (which are also block out days), and then upgrade. Jozy could even upgrade on the 31st once MM is over and could take advantage of the discounts then since you can upgrade to a deluxe AP on a block out day.

Southern California Select Passport, Southern California Annual Passport and Deluxe Annual Passport holders get 10% off meals at virtually all dining locations, including most Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure and Disney hotel restaurants, as well as Downtown Disney restaurants.

Also, where are you staying? You may be able to check into an AP7 rate at the DLR hotels.

The Deluxe Annual Passport includes these benefits:

• Enjoy 315 pre-selected days of admission to both Disneyland® Resort theme parks.

• 10% dining discount at select Disneyland® Resort restaurants ($10 minimum purchase; restrictions apply)

• Special rates at the Hotels of the Disneyland® Resort (subject to availability; restrictions apply)

• Exclusive benefits at select Downtown Disney® District locations

• An annual parking pass for the Mickey & Friends parking structure is available for an additional $59. (subject to availability; restrictions apply)

WOO HOO! I'm so excited! thank you all for your very fast and efficient help!!!

:worship: :lovestruc

Your trip is starting at the very end of August? That is what it seems like, since your sig shows sept '08.

If so, what Danger is saying is NOT to wait until the very end of your trip (unless there are more blocked out days beyond those August days, which I don't think there are in September) to upgrade, b/c you're missing out on the discounts.

So once you've entered for the MMs, even on that blocked out day (31st), upgrade to the AP and start getting those discounts.

NOT every food place accepts them, and some (but not all) require you to buy at least $10 worth of food. Although someone on another board has gotten Royal Street Veranda to give them the AP discount, that restaurant is NOT on the list for discounts, and although I ask every time, they have NEVER let me use the AP discount there.

Same for the ice cream place in DCA that's attached to Brrr-Bank Bakery. The bakery, yes, they accept the AP discount, even for well under $10 worth of items. But not at the ice cream place.

You'll get a list of places you can use it when you get it, but if you have specific places in mind, list 'em here and we can tell you. :) But really, off the top of my head, those are the only two "permanent" (not rolled away each night) places that I can think of that aren't listed on the discount list, and have refused to give the discount.

Thanks bumbershoot!!!

Well, right now our trip is booked from Sept 3-16, BUT since I found out yesterday that Fantasmic will be off during those dates, I started considering changing my arrival date for Aug 30 and my sister would be joining me, as originally planned on Sept 3. The bonus is that I would also get to see the EP which is my favourite parade ever!!!!!! The only thing is that I wouldnt be able to use that MM on the Saturday since i'll be arriving to LAX at 11am ....

Save the second MM for Tuesday then. I would bet the park will be DEAD for MM on the Tuesday following Labor Day. Just a hunch. . .

And then upgrade on Tuesday -- the lines will probably be shorter at the Bank that day as well. ;)

Well, with such a nice long trip, I'd just be happy with the Sunday and upgrade. Discounts are more important to me than MM, and while it would pain me to lose the second (I've forgotten your first post here already, but I'm assuming you got the tix through GAT?) I personally would upgrade on that Sunday.

See, I'm the opposite. I RELISH my time at MM's. I get my best empty park photos and multiple times on my favorite FL rides and Space. Walking into NOS ahead of those at park opening and seeing no one there makes my heart just so happy. And it stays that way for at least another couple hours. . .

I'm understanding that the OP will be alone the first couple days and then her sister joining her later. I'm not sure if 10% on meals will really be that much with just one person eating. I know it makes a difference with my family of 5, but the OP will obviously have to weigh the potential savings on food vs. the extra hour of an almost empty DL.

Well, I do rewards websites for a penny at a time, so to me the tiny discounts add up and make me happy, LOL. :upsidedow I still regret not upgrading until the 3rd day in September, thinking of that dollar or so in discounts we might have gotten during that time! :goodvibes

Also remember that I go at slower times (the post-Memorial Day trip was the busiest time we've been) so a MM morning in FL hasn't been *that* much different in feel to me than a normal day getting there very early. :)

And I'm just a sucker for that AP in hand.

FWIW, I would second the upgrading on Tuesday to make use of your second MM. We really love the early mornings and not having to wait for rides! You can upgrade after park opening on Tuesday and then make use of all the great discounts and still have the early morning rides. Definitely the best of both worlds!

I'm not sure where you are staying, but the AP7 rates are out and are applicable for August as well. We are staying on site in August and were able to save quite a bit (we were already booked on site for full price!). More money for activities and souvenirs!

Also, if you are going to any character meals, the vouchers from GAT are quite a bit cheaper for this time of the year even over the AP discounts. We got our breakfasts for $26.50 each including tax and tip!
