Hi there,

I'm fairly new to all that is Disney - done DL (20 years ago) and DLP (2 years ago) and at age 29 I had my first trip to WDW last month - boy do I miss the place!!

Going back as soon as possible but that will be next year and we're looking to stay in a delux resort to really get into the magic. We stayed off-site on the trip last month as we were with DBF's parents and they didn't want to spend the whole holiday in Disney as we did :)

Can you lovely people help me with the resorts and where to stay for the delux resorts and what to expect etc....there is a good chance we'll join the DVC (DBF has been to WDW 4 times now) and we're talking about Honeymoon-ing in a delux resort too if that happens for us....so any advice on that would be great too!!

Thanks and Pixie Dust

Hello, and welcome!
Which resort you choose might depend on how much you want to spend, what theme strikes your fancy, or which parks you decide to frequent the most.
For example, if you love the South Seas atmosphere, a la Hawaii, and would be at MK a lot, then the Polynesian is for you!
Others will chime in and give hints, I'm sure.
My sister and I have stayed at 4 of the deluxe resorts and so far, the Poly is our favorite, even tho it is much more expensive.

I'll second Granny,
Our favorite park is Epcot so we tend to stay at the Yacht and Beach club. We loved the location (walk to epcot & MGM) and have had nothing but spectacular stays at these resorts (so much so that we purchased at the BCV).
We stayed at the WL last august and feel in love with that even though it was a totally different flavor.
Check out the slide shows at www.wdwig.com of all the resorts, see if some thing strikes your fancy.

The only thing I recommend is RESEARCH! Start with the disney world site and then ask questions here on a specific resort. Good luck!

I agree with Cara. Research all the hotels and pick which one fits your budget and your theme.

I absolutely LOVE the Poly, but hate the Wilderness Lodge (simply because I'm from Wisconsin, so the theme doesn't appeal to me) Everyone's different in the themes that they choose.

Good luck and have a great trip!

First off! Welcome!!

IMHO, the options for a deluxe would be as follows;

- I would try to rent some points from some for the BW,BC, or SS. You could rent a studio and it would give you a feel as to whether or not you really want to buy points.
- You could also try some of the other resorts like GF, CR, or the Poly. Get a package with dining through Disney or AAA.

We loved the BW and it confirmed our desire for DVC. This January we will be splitting a stay with the Poly (if the points for 2008 are ever released) and the BC.

Try to do the tour and see what the DVC is all about.

Have a blast planning! :)

I would recommend you stay at one of the DVC resorts
BC, BW, OKW, SSR, VWL or the new AKV
I personally like OKW we purchased there last year using resale www.timesharestore.com

by staying at the dvc resorts it will help you to know if you like them and if DVC will be worthwhile for you

Thanks everyone!!

I'll keep going with the research and no doubt be back asking specific resort questions... :)
