My faith in Delta Airlines was renewed this week when the night before my brother, SIL, and mother were due to fly home from San Diego to Washington DC, my brother was admitted to the ICU in San Diego. I immediately called Delta Airlines to find out what I had to do to change their flight to another still unknown date. The first rep I talked to said pay the change fee and difference in airfare. I asked to talk to a supervisor and after the original rep finally connected me to a supervisor, she could not have been more helpful. She gave them an open ended ticket with no rate increase or change fee. When my mother called to book the new fight the doctor talked to the agent to let them know oxygen would be needed.
They arrived home last night after a Delta agent met them at the curb with a wheel chair and oxygen, took them through security, and straight to the plane. The pilot came out and talked to my family to let them know there was plenty of oxygen available and if he needed anything to just let them know. They had a layover in Atlanta and the pilot of that plane refused to leave the gate because they did not have enough oxygen tanks on board to cover my brother for the flight and this resulted in a 30 minute delay for the flight. My mother said everyone went out of their way to help and insure they were comfortable right up to the point my other brother picked them up at the airport in Washington.
It was comforting to me to know Delta went the extra mile to make sure they got home safely so he could be treated by his own doctors at home. Our entire family is grateful and wants to spread the word of the wonderful customer service.
