Is anyone familiar with Delta Travel Vouchers? We got back two weeks ago and had crappy customer service, long story, but I just got an email from Delta saying we were going to be issued $100.00 travel vouchers for each person in our party (4 of us). The e-mail doesn't state much other than they are good for one year.

My questions are these:

1) Are they transferable?
2) Can they be combined? ex. my husband and I want to go for a long weekend without the kids, can we use two for my husband and two for me and take the $400.00 credit towards our two tickets?

I know I could just call Delta and ask these questions, but the members of the Dis are so much more friendlier. (main reason I got these vouchers coming to us because of rude Delta rep)

TIA !!

The big bummer is we don't travel very often. We go to Disney every 4 years and this year my husband started his own business so we really don't want to spend too much money. I wish we were able to use them for another trip to Disney, but it isn't going to happen in the next year unfortunately. Hoping maybe my husband and I could get a nice long weekend "away" somewhere fairly reasonable for our anniversary. Keeping fingers crossed.

I got Delta travel vouchers a while back when we volunteered to take another flight when they called us. I believe the vouchers were in my and my DH's names, so we were the only ones who could use them. The icky part was, I could not use these travel vouchers online, but had to either go to the airport to book my flight or, use a travel agent, which is what I did. I hadn't used a travel agent to book a flight in years, but that way I did get actual "tickets", not just email confirmations. Delta is not like Southwest where anyone can use vouchers/credits - they must be used ONLY by the person whose name is on it. That is what I'm thinking.

Yeah, that is kind of what I thought was going to be the case. Thanks.

Actually, they are transferable:
  • Are good toward the purchase of any published fare on Delta Air Lines' domestic or international flights, Delta Shuttle®, Connection Carriers, and Delta designated codeshare flights. (Vouchers have no cash value and are not valid toward the purchase of a one-time admission to the Crown Room Clubs®, Air Cargo services, previously-issued tickets, or tour packages and air/sea cruises.)
  • Are eligible for our SkyMiles program mileage and SkyMiles upgrades on applicable fares.
  • Are transferable. To transfer Delta Dollars to someone else, you'll need to give them the original 13 digit voucher number and complete name as printed on the voucher receipt.
  • Must be redeemed at delta.com, any Delta Air Lines Ticket Office, or airport ticketing location.
  • Are good for one year from the date of issuance.

I'm not sure whether the two of you can use all four vouchers, but it's possible as they are transferrable - and they are treated like dollars, i.e., issued in dollar amounts vs. being valid for a flight between two points regardless of cost. When we were bumped in October 2006 in Orlando, we received $400 vouchers. Having heard that redeeming them was next to impossible, and since they were only good for one year and our next DCL cruise wasn't scheduled until December 2007, we had little hope of using them for our flights. When we went to redeem them, we No. 1) had our pitiful back-up stories ready, No. 2) planned on booking for October 2007 and then paying the change fee to change the flights to December, No. 3) et cetera, trying to make things work.

Other than having to go to an airport to make the booking (we did it at a less busy airport while on vacation), it was as easy as pie! They happily booked the flights in December (guess we had to make the ressie within a year, not fly within a year) and our new tickets printed out at the First Class podium in the airport, next to the telephone we were using to make the booking. Because our new tix cost less than our vouchers, they also gave us vouchers for the difference.

And the website quoted above now states that they may be used at delta.com. What could be simpler? We sort of hope that we get bumped in December: We may never need to purchase another ticket if we play this right!

My email that I received from Delta states that they aren't available on line.

"The airline industry is very competitive, and the support of our
customers is important to the lasting success of our company. Our goal
is to consistently provide a quality product, and we are sorry we did
not meet your expectations. We understand that the inconvenience cannot
be measured in compensation. However, as a goodwill gesture, we will
mail our $100.00 Transportation Credits for each passenger which may be
used toward future Delta travel and some travel-related services.
Vouchers are valid for one year from the date of issue and may not be
combined. They may be redeemed at any Delta ticketing facility or
authorized travel agency; however, they are not currently redeemable
online. Please refer to the terms and conditions for additional
information."

I did go on line to Delta and read what the previous posted had stated, but it doesn't agree with my email from yesterday from Delta. Not sure. I guess when I actually receive them I will see what is actually stated on the voucher itself.
