Delta new rules for "credits" and fare reductions from CVG

Just read that Delta is re-structuring (and lowering) fares from CVG - so that it may no longer be one of the highest price hubs in the US. Also read that the change fee was going down to $50. However, Delta says the fee is still $100.

Now the bad news.. they will no longer issue travel voucher credits if the fare goes down on a ticket that has already been purchased UNLESS you pay the change fee. So, unless the fare goes down by more than $100 (yeah, right!) it is not worth it to reissue. They told me this changed on August 4th.

I think the $50 change fee is a good idea. However, I think adding the change fee onto the price adjustment stinks!

We use Delta a lot! We have received price adjustment vouchers on 2 separate occasions. I feel it helps with business because if I have a voucher I will definately purchase my next ticket with Delta so I can use it. I will be waiting to purchase my tickets closer to my vacation dates now. I will wait until SW opens their seats because the rest of the airlines follow suit.

Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like their agents don't know all the new rules yet.. I just saw an article on Delta.com about the CVG fares and it said the change fee will go to $50 for Cincinnati passengers.

Well... you have a choice higher fares and free vouchers or lower fares and a cost for vouchers......

ALL of this is subject to change. The airfare structure Delta announced is VERY simular to one that AA tried a few years ago and it failed. In which case you airfares will go back up making your vouchers cheaper LOL!

(Personally having seen the airfare stucture I would go with it and not worry about the vouchers!)

Shucks! Our flights from Dayton to MCO went down by $50, and we're outa luck, not with a $100 per ticket change fee!

This is what Delta says:

"Thank you for your e-mail to Delta Air Lines.

Airfares are subject to increase or decrease and change without
notice.
We encourage passengers to purchase their tickets when reservations
are
confirmed to take advantage of the current price. However, a lower
fare
may be introduced for the same destination, and we can appreciate that
our customers want to take advantage of the savings.

When a new fare is introduced or a current fare is reduced in a
market,
ticketed passengers may downgrade prior to departure of the
originating
flight if all restrictions of the new reduced fare are met, including
the advance ticketing requirement. Additionally, no changes are
permitted to the flight, date, or origin. There is a $100
administrative service fee per person for downgrading domestic
tickets.
If you have any further questions, you may contact Delta's
Reservations"
