I've been patiently waiting for Southwest to release to book our flight from Louisville hoping for a fare of $99 one way. But yuk it's 144 one way. So I just checked Delta and it's down to 212 roundtrip. So for 5 of us that's a total savings of 400. I can't believe Delta's is lower. Did they recently drop their prices? In our years of going, Delta has never been competitive with SW.

It's great to see someone from Louisville here on the boards!! We're flying out of Louisville tomorrow morning using Delta also. We got really good airfare too!! I think Delta has lowered their prices to try and make up for some of the business they loss due to the threat of a strike back in the early spring. I hope you have a wonderful trip! :wave2:
19 hours and counting!! :hourglass
DH :goofy: DS :simba: Me :tink:

Oh I'm so excited for you. Have a wonderful trip!

If you've got time to answer - when did you book your trip? I just walked my husband through our options and he sees no benefit in booking our airline tickets this far out.

I'm not surprised, SW is usually about the same price as other carriers out of San Antonio, and sometimes SW is more expensive than Delta.

We went through Disney Travel Co. and booked our vacation (including our flight) in February. We thought about driving but decided that flying would be less expensive not to mention the time we would be saving. :Pinkbounc Delta is pretty competitive with their prices right now and with the prices as good as they are, I would go ahead and book the flight. :thumbsup2 Have fun planning your trip!!

Hi I am from Louisville too :wave2: :wave2: When are you going??

I am waiting for SW to open up Dec flights but getting tired of waiting! :lmao:

:cool1:

We are flying out of Louisville in July and using Delta as well. I believe we booked in March, and got $202 for roundtrip tickets. Southwest was at least $250 or more at that time.

Hi Everyone!

I am in Louisville as well! Not a true Louisvillian - I am an import really.

I got a really good rate on Delta one year, and it was a direct flight both ways.
Glad to see you got that fare. That was pretty good, Bettybeth

Now that's funny because I just posted on another thread that we are flying SW this time for the first time. Delta has ALWAYS ALWAYS been competitive with SW for us. This is the first time SW has ever been cheaper than Delta. We got SW for $157.10 rt each. Delta was never lower than $250 anytime I checked. Got the e-mail fare from SW and jumped on it. I'm a little nervous about flying SW this time but the price was just so much cheaper.

I'm already looking at flights for our Dec trip. Delta has yet to drop below $287 and today they are $295. Unless they come down we'll probably go the SW route again if we find a cheaper rate.

Maybe there's hope after all...
We live just across the river from Louisville and fly from there. We've driven the past several times but would like to fly this September. Started looking at airfares yesterday and was very discouraged to see nothing under $280pp RT (We'd be leaving and returning on a Saturday). So now I'm a bit encouraged that we still might have that option!

I gave up on SWA out of Louisville quite a while ago, LOL.... for us, it's much cheaper to fly out of Nashville, and the 2 hour drive from Hardin County is not a big deal at all :)

Having said that, I'm not 100% loyal to flying out of BNA. I am always checking fares out of Lexington, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis, too!

Waiting for an October fare drop,
Madge

I do the same thing, I will drive two hours (BNA, CVG, IND) in order to get a much cheaper rate, I was completely prepared to drive to Nashville for a SW flight and then I got DL out of SDF for $188 rt and I was thrilled to death!

We just returned from our WDW trip a couple of weeks ago. This was our first family trip and we had a magical time :cloud9: ! Our flight was great! It's wonderful to hear all the good deals that Delta is still offering. I never really thought about driving to Nashville or Indy to get cheaper rates but I will consider :scratchin that for our next trip. Louisville has a very nice airport. K9pal we live across the river in Southern In also (we've lived here for 13yrs. really from south eastern KY Ever heard of Hazard :lmao: )
Hope everyone has a wonderful trip!! :wave2:
