Delta boarding question

I was wondering how they board the plane.
Do they load front to back or back to front?
I am wondering if there will be room left for my carry ons in the overhead.
Thanks :)

They board by zone. Zones 1-9. Zone 1 is first class, 2 & 3 are premium skymiles fliers, then 4-9 is normal economy class, typically from back to front. Note that if you're in a bulkhead row in economy, you'll board with zone 1.

I am in row 12 both ways. Does that mean I get on last?
MD88 down and and a 737 back.

You will board towards the end of the process. But, you should have room for bag storage. May not be right above your seat though.

If it cannot fit under the seat, then it shouldn't be a carry-on. If there happens to be room in the overhead bins, that's great, otherwise you should only assume you'll be able to fit whatever you carry-on under the seat in front of you (exception for bulkhead and emergency row).

Really? That is going to mean a lot of changes for a lot of travelers. Those overhead bins are meant for carryon bags. Now....there is not room for every single traveler to put a bag in those bins. I have been on completely full SW flights where the FAs asked the passengers to take out coats and that type thing from the overhead bins to make room for carryon bags. There were no bags that had to be gate checked on that flight...they all fit in the overhead and underneath the seats.
There is a reason the airlines tell you that you can have two pieces of carryon baggage....a bag (with approximate measurements of 18x15x8) and a personal item...purse for instance. There is no way you can fit those two things underneath your seat.

In case anyone is reading this and confused or alarmed...this is not a rule but this person's personal opinion. He's saying that if you want to be ASSURED that your carry-on will fit on the plane with you, make sure it fits under a seat. If not, there's a possibility it could be gate checked if room in the overhead bins is unavailable.

Typically if you have a small roll-a-board suitcase and a personal item (purse, laptop case, diaper bag) you will be asked to put the smaller item under the seat in front of you to make room for suitcases and larger bags in the overhead bins.

On some flights Delta uses a funny system, like zones 3 through 8 are physically arranged (starting at the back) 3,5,7,4,6,8.

Still, on average, the further back you are, the sooner you board.

Since the first several rows are for first class, row 12 is very near the front of the main cabin and therefore likely to be close to last for boarding. You might want to reselect seats.

OT: Most United flights are like this, zone 2 is all window seats, zone 3 is all middle seats, zone 4 is all aisle seats.
