I know it says we are allowed to bring up to 12 ounce bottle of hand sanitizer on our carry on. What if I have several small bottles of bath and body hand sanitizers. The kind that you hook to your purse. Can I just put them in my carry on as long as it doesn’t go over 12 ounces?
I didn’t want it to take up all the room in my quart size zip lock for my other liquids.

check the TSA website I am pretty sure they don't have to go in your quart bag. I swear I took a big spray hand sanitizer and smaller ones in a different bag then my other quart liquid bag in april.

Here is what TSA says
TSA is allowing one liquid hand sanitizer container up to 12 ounces per passenger in carry-on bags until further notice. Passengers can expect that these containers larger than the standard allowance of 3.4 ounces of liquids permitted through a checkpoint will need to be screened separately, which will add some time to their checkpoint screening experience

I’fe taken 2 smaller 4-6 oz. bottles of sanitizer in my carry-on on each of 4 Covid-era trips. I usually put them in a separate larger ziploc and pull them out so that TSA can see them easily. TSA did open and test my sanitizers. One time I forgot a bottle that was in the side pocket of my personal item bag. They spotted it on the x-ray, pulled it out, and tested it.

I’ve carried 1, sometimes 2, small bottles of hand sanitizer in my carryon backpack and they’ve never been pulled to be tested. We have Pre-Check which might make a difference.

If you're taking several small bottles, they'll need to fit in your quart-sized bag of liquids. The one large bottle of hand sanitizer is tested separately.

Not necessarily. I carried mine loosely in my backpack. I think once or twice, it was attached on the outside of it. No extra check or testing.

I cannot guarantee you will be able to do it. But, I brought two small sanitizer bottles in my backpack when my family traveled in June.

Do you have pre-check? Were the bottles larger than 100mL (3.4oz)?

I don't bag up any of my liquids since I have precheck and they go through just fine, if anything larger than the limit should have been pulled and tested. I traveled with my 10oz spray bottle of hand sanitizer at least 10 times and it was pulled and tested every time.

We had precheck the past few times. We never really did anything to get precheck. I’m not sure if we got lucky and was just picked for it. I have no idea if we will get it every time. The smaller bottles we have are only 1 ounce each.

We took small empty bottles attached to our carry-on bags and the larger bottle of hand sanitizer, which we used later to fill the small bottles. We do not do pre-check, and our product was tested on both our initial and return flights. I will probably ditch the large bottle next time at end of trip before return flight, so we don't have to take the extra time for the additional screening.

We actually have Global Entry that we got in 2019 for some international travel planned for 2020-2022, but we all know how those plans changed. My bottles averaged 2-3 oz, so they breezed right through.

What is supposed to happen, and what the TSA actually catches are two completely separate things. According to the regulations, all of those small bottles are supposed to be in the one quart ziploc bag. In reality, unless something else sets off about your bag, TSA is probably going to miss it. Each one you add is going to exponentially increase your odds of being caught and all of them going in the trash.

I am sure that I had a small one attached to my purse when I went in March. Honestly never thought about it or about removing it. No issues at all. Not sure if having pre check may have helped that though. When we go next month, I will have a larger one in my bag too and maybe one in the checked bag too.

I never take my liquids or gels out of my bag with pre-check
