Please forgive me for asking this question.

I just make ressis on line with Delta and clicked on the seat assignement and clicked on both depart and return same seats 4b 4c, but on the return home flight it auto assigned 10b,10c..

I called Delta and asked whats up and they said something like that the seats were be held or taken by the airport authority, what the heck is this.....

I dont like setting in the back of the airplane, oh yes and this is one of the small planes sets 50 people.......

Thanks

Certain seats can only be assigned by a gate agent at the airport after personally verifying that the passenger qualifies to set in the seat, as per FAA regulations. In addition, many airline will reserve the best seats in the aircraft for their best customers, the ones paying the most for their seats, and the ones that patronize the airline most often.

I hope that helps.

When you buy a ticket, you are getting a seat NOT a specific seat on that plane.

Well, that's also a good point, but it's actually even beyond that -- when you purchase an airline ticket you're purchasing nothing more than passage from city to city on a specific day. Other aspects of the reservation (seat assignments, the specific type of aircraft, the times of the fligths, the number of stops, even the actual company that will operate the flight) are subject to change without notice.

How can i qualify for the same seat going down and not qualify for the same seat coimg home on the same type of airplane??

also this will be my 3rd trip on the same type of plane and with Delta and have always got the seat assisement i asked for, even on this trip i got the seats i asked for going to Orlando.

Thanks for answering my question, but still does not make since to me..

What I take it to mean is the seats are already reserved or being held and are not available to you.

It is very possible that your seats are already taken by another passenger. There is no guarantee that you will ever get the same seats on any flight...and you always could be moved at any time. Many airlines will not even allow all of the seats to be assigned beforehand, as they need to be able to make moves and assignments for a number of reasons at check-in. There will be a lot of passengers on a full flight who cannot get an advance seat assignment and must wait until check-in.

As I mentioned before, after the flight is filled to a certain point, more restrictions go into place. Also, each flight has its own forecasted load, so that also will account for variability between the two flights.

Exactly.

I can't understand why this is so tough to comprehend.

Yes, that would be the most obvious circumstance.

That has happened to me before. The reason on my case was that Delta had changed planes.(to a larger plane) We ended up about in the same area in the plane that I had wanted to begin with. I hope everything works out for you.
