I need a new lap top for school.
Does anyone know of a discount for Dell?
I prefer Dell. I already have one and I have not had any problems with it.
But I need one just for school that kids will not be going on.

Are you a university student? Dell has a student discount for a lot of american universities. I would google "dell student university" I think the discount is less than 5% but that makes a difference up in the 100s and 1000s.

Do you plan to take this laptop around with you? I would suggest a smaller one (maybe a 10 inch?) My larger laptop wouldn't even fit in my backpack.

WE just went through trying to get a laptop for my DS. We went to the Dell website, and they had one he liked. Then we went through their college discount program (you can find it right from the regular Dell site, and you put in the state, then the university), and the cost for the SAME laptop (well, the one through the college site had Lojack, but still) was $200 more than the one that we first saw featured. So make your comparisons carefully! We ended up buying from the HP website instead -- for a similarly-outfitted laptop, the HP was more than $100 cheaper.

Also at the Dell site check out the Dell Outlet. They have refurbished, scratch and dent, and returned unopened laptops for sale. These are generally cheaper than the regular. I currently have a returned one. The one before it was a refurb and my husband had a scratch and dent one. All of them were cheaper and work wonderfully. The inventory changes all the time so keep checking.

I just called and asked them for a discount. They offered me a $25.00 off the listed sale price. I said that I was expecting a better discount. Then they gave me a better discount

Oh I forgot to say --I bought Dell because Dell is the only company that includes a recovery disk.

I hate to loose everything and have to start from scratch.

Also if you are not opposed to a used or refurbished laptop I got my Dell on Ebay a few months ago for $150. It works great, I don't know if we can post sellers on here so I won't but you can PM for the seller/store that I got mine from.
