I'm thinking of buying a Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook, and I just wanted to know if anyone has one and if VMK works well on it. Here's the specs I'm looking at.

Intel Core Duo Processor T2050 (1.60GHz)--possibly higher but at least that
Windows XP Professional
1 GB RAM

I don't think most of the other stuff is relevant, since it's a Shockwave game, but if anything else matters, let me know.

Does anyone have any comments, advice? I'd love to hear it! This is my first PC purchase. Up to now I've had a Mac, but it doesn't work well with VMK.

TIA!

That is a good computer. It will definitely work well with VMK.

If it's any help, I use a Dell Inspiron 6000 (widescreen), and it works wonderfully with VMK. :) I am very happy with my purchase. I bought it about a year ago for college.

It has a Duo Core O_o... I'm so jealous of you...

btw what's the graphics card on it? I don't know but I think a graphics card might make vmk better

Woot, Briar! You and I have the same computer. I love mine as well, very happy with it :thumbsup2

LOL, go us! :teeth: I especially love the widescreen feature. It allows me to have three-four windows open at the same exact time, if I adjust sizings.

I use a dell dimension 8400 desktop, and purchased it just for gaming and it works wonderfully:

2GB Memory
3.3GHz Dual Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Graphics Card (256MB RAM)
250GB Internal Hard Drive
250GB External Hard Drive

NOTE: Get a really good optical mouse, but I recommend not getting a wireless optical mouse...Wireless is still just not up to par and you will get faster responses with just a regular optical mouse (No trackball mice either!)

The graphics card is 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 TurboCache. (I'm just copying this off the page. :teeth: )

Does anyone have opinions about processors, in general (for VMK or otherwise)? Is something faster than the T2050 1.60GHz advisable?

I've never had a laptop before, and never really wanted one, but I've gotten used to having one for work (Thinkpad) and finally decided to get one. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all your advice! They kind of look at you funny when you walk into the store and say, I want a computer where I can play my Magic Kingdom game. :rotfl: But you guys know what I'm talking about!

Did you like your Mac? You know that the new MacBook Pro and MacBook have DuoCore Intel processors. You can run Parallels Desktop and run OS X and Windows XP at the same time or you can use Boot Camp and dual boot.

you should be fine with that computer :thumbsup2

What I love is that you take VMK into high consideration before buying your computer :lmao: Classic!

I'd say it'd be fine if you use a good internet connection. What are you gonna use? And I suggest downloading some stuff to make it faster by using your idle bandwith

I use a Dell Inspiron E1705 wide screen laptop I got in March of this year and I love it. It took a while to get used to it but now I dont think I would like a desktop. The one thing i did have to do though is when it comes to you if you get the widescreen you may have to adjust the resolution to make everything a little larger. At the high resolution set at the factory it is difficult to see the fireworks if you are a fan of that game. And also the text is very small to. Now that I set the resolution I would not give up my Inspiron. I am confident if you go with a Dell you wont be disappointed.

just my two credits worth
