Has anyone been to Del Sol in Nassau? I understand that they sell products that change color in the sun. Do there products change color drasticly(from pink to purple) or just a slight shade difference(from light pink to medium pink)? What kind of products do they sell? Are they expensive? I think I read that they sell t-shirts but I don't know what else. For example, how much would a shirt cost approximately? Where are they located in Nassau? TIA

I can't swear that there is a Del Sol in Nassau, but I am pretty sure that there is.

They sell all sorts of different things from t-shirts and sweatshirts to hair barettes, glasses and my personal favorite, the color changing nail polish.

The changes are usually VERY noticable. THe T-shirt designs are white until they hit the sun!

You can check them out at http://www.delsol.com/

We went to Del Sol in Nassau...it was a nice store. They had color changing nail polish there too. The shirts are white and when out in the sun turn light shades of color...nothing intense but you can certainly see that they are in color. I think that a shirt might have been 18.00 but not positive on the price. Its walking distance from the ship, I walked it with a 2 1/2 year old walking so it couldn't have been all that far....

On our last cruise my B.I.L. Roy and I were teasing my other B.I.L. about his fruity drink choice at Palo's. It came with cherrys and an umbrella. Well his wife got a little steamed so we quickly stopped our laughter less we stay in hot water for the next 6 nights of the cruise. Well in St Martin my fruity BIL went to Del Sol and bought some nail polish. That night while we slept, my wife and my BIL Roy's wife painted our nails. His wife did his toes as well....ok we're sound sleepers! Well after a hearty breakfest they sugjested we go for a stroll on deck 9. Well to our suprise our normal looking nails turned a bright red. Roy had the lovely toe nails as well...he had on his flip flops. The only thing more red were our faces! So remember "He who laughs last......" What a great colorful memory!!!!

We went there this past June on a Carnival cruise. The store is really neat!! The shirts are expensive, but a very cool gift if you need one. They have tote bags, hats, T-shirts, and all of the other things the other posters have said. I would definetly stop in there. You could walk and just ask around where the Del-Sol store is. Everyone knows.

Have fun, and enjoy.

We enjoyed visiting del sol last December. DH bought a hat, which changes color very nicely and it is a cool hat. The best thing was the hair accessories section! DD10 got a bunch of souvies for her friends. They also had rings that she bought---I think it was 6 for $5, and she just gave each friend 2. The kids loved them.

Del Sol is not too far from the ship. When you disembark, you'll head towards the welcome center. Exit and walk straight ahead, keeping the water on your right and the welcome center behind you. Cross the street, very carefully, walk up a block and turn right. I think Del Sol was a block down this street on your right. My DD8 only wanted to do one thing in Nassau and that was buy a shirt in Del Sol. The color change is quite dramatic. It goes from entirely white, with a black outline around the design, to full color. I don't remember seeing a price on anything and I'm nearly positive that a childs t-shirt was $22. My DD was horrified and really was indignant to the sales girl that they were charging way too much for their products. The girl threw a couple of additional color changing items into the bag and we were out of there.

They have an online store on their website at www.delsol.com. Move your cursor over the items and you'll see them change color.

It's a long story but worth the read...
One thing to keep in mind...
If you have any coupons, you MUST give them to the salesperson when making the purchase (for a free gift, not a discount) -- We were on the Eastern 2/5/05 cruise and visited the Del Sol in St. Martin. My daughter bought 2 t-shirts (children $18, adults start at $22) and had a coupon for a free color changing canvas bag with the purchase of 2 shirts. While at the store, we couldn't seem to find the coupon and left. We went to a restaurant and found the lost coupon in our bag and took it back to the Del Sol about an hour after the original purchase. My DD10 (almost 11) said she wanted to be the one to get the bag so I was browsing the store nearby while she waited in line. When she got to the front of the line, she told the salesperson what she wanted and produced her receipt. The lady made a rude comment about how I sent my kid to do my errands instead of coming myself. The lady called the owner out who I talked to and when he refused to honor the coupon, I told him I wanted to return the items we bought (2 shirts and some hairclips - total $51 US). (My intention was to return the items and do the entire transaction over with the coupon as we still liked the shirts.) The owner told me he didn't accept returns and flat out refused my poor kid her bag. I was furious and went outside the store. We had also bought color changing shirts at a different store for $9.95/shirt so whenever someone was coming into the store that I recognized from the Disney Magic, I would tell them that there was another store with nicer people and a better price just down the street selling the same type products. The owner came outside and said if I didn't leave, he would call the police. He claimed I was "peddling my wares". I simply told him I was just talking to people I knew about my experience there and showing them a shirt I bought from a different store. He went inside and called the police, noting his intention to have me arrested. Of course, I have a complaint into the corporate office now, but I also am the type of person that if I have a terrible customer service experience that I share it with everyone I know - the Disboards included! So be warned... Not to say I don't love the products though -- we still went to the Del Sol in St. Thomas the next day and bought 2 more shirts (AND MY DAUGHTER'S BAG!!!)

Hope this helps someone!

I really love the Del Sol shirts we got my daughters. A little pricey, but the quality of the shirts is great!

WOW!!!! Those things all look really cool! My DH just got home from work and I was showing him all the stuff. Every time I would change the color of something I'd go "WOOOOO" :rotfl2: We will definitly make a stop there! Our DD's(10 and 6) will love the stuff!

I will definately check out the store in Nassau. It sounds like a lot of fun. Where do you get the coupons?

We got the coupons from a book we bought on the ship during Carrie's shopping discussion (check your navigator) - it had discounts and freebies for a lot of ports of call - the book was $20.
