We are sailing on the Fantasy Sept. 26th of this year. I have read some about the Halloween decorations and festivities on for September and October. Can anyone tell me what we should expect the last few days of September and the first few days of October? Will the pumpkin tree be up? Will they be doing any of the other things you can see in the commercial like characters dressed special, special drinks or other stuff?

I sailed on the Dream September 2013, we left on the 22nd and the ship was decorated for Halloween, they did the pumpkin tree and we dressed in costumes one night.
We were an all adult group so we did the adult costume contest at the dance club after dinner, but I believe there was kids one as well earlier as well.
Not sure about other kids activities or dressed up characters.

We sail this September 5th on the Fantasy. They announced that this is the first "Halloween on the High Seas" sailing this year. So any sailing from September 5th through Halloween will have the decorations and special events. (at least on the Fantasy :))

We were on the Fantasy last October and the pumpkin tree was up as well as fall bunting around the atrium and Jack-O-Lantern decals on some of the windows.

I feel like I'm the only one NOT excited about the Halloween decor. Haven't seen it in person yet but I think the majority of it looks tacky. Don't mind the tree but that's about it. Wish they'd have just one night for it...like pirate night.

We sailed last October on the Dream & loved it, especially the late showing of "Nightmare Before Christmas" & the Character Photo Session after the movie.

We liked them.

It's okay, Debbie, I do think being in person will help - it's not all over the ship at all. Pretty much relegated to the lobby and the hallways leading to it. I'm not a fan of the window clings, yet love the shadows they create how silly is that? I like seeing them change throughout the day, watching the sun come up through them, etc. My favorite are the cob webs; they don't scream out as much as the pumpkins, and make very neat shadows on the ground.

I agree. The shadows are fun to watch especially on the way to dinner. My 3 year old loved the pumpkin tree and is still talking about it. We rebooked for October again and the decorations and activities were part of the reason. The Halloween activities are easily avoidable if you wish. But the decorations are fun.

You are NOT the only one who is not excited about the theming! I cannot adequately express how much I dislike the fact that this is being forced upon us on a mid September cruise. I really like the feel of a being on an elegant cruise ship and feel these tacky decorations take away from that.

That's what I'm saying. The lobby is so elegant. To put up window clings...for the entire trip...not happy. One night, fine, but my extended families' first sight of that gorgeous lobby is going to be of window clings & a dead-looking tree. :\

dont let a few pumpkin faces on a window ruin your trip! Unless you are looking for them you, wouldnt notice walking into the atrium.

Halloween is definitely not "pushed" on any part of the cruise. There are a few small events that you can quite easily miss.

i frankly felt underwhelmed and wanted more.

You are NOT the only one. Trust me. I was on 3 sailings with the Halloween decor on 2 different ships last year. We don't normally get into Halloween at home so all that stuff is lost on me. I don't enjoy it other than the Spooky Juice. I do like the Spooky Juice (specialty cocktail). <--we called it the "grape drank" LOL! I love how beautiful the atrium(s) are without the tree and the fall colors being in the way. So, hey, fellow Debbie Downer checkin' in. ((((fist bump))))

I wouldn't say "pushed" as far as the offerings are concerned because like you said, you can easily avoid those. Which I mostly do. But when the tree and all the fall buntings are up, window clings, etc. you don't get to take in the atrium in all it's elegance as it normally would be. There's no option to move the decor. Ya know? That's the part that's "meh" for me. I don't personally observe Halloween in any way just for lack of interest. I could see having a full load of all the Halloween stuff for all of October. But why into early/mid September? :/

OP, we're on the same sailing as you. Having been on the Fantasy wih Christmas decorations, we are excited about the Halloween decor.
