Decline Housekeeping do we get a choice of giftcard or Minnie Car ?

I don't see leaving the trash bags outside as anymore of a sanitary issue than leaving food trays/pizza boxes which people do all the time. Mousekeeping frequently comes by to gather them up.
People shouldn't be doing this at the values and moderates at all. I wish guests would get a list of common sense rules to follow if they choose to opt out of mousekeeping. I've seen trays of food left outside overnight and it's not a pretty sight in the morning.

By leaving our trash bagged up outside our room, we were following the protocol which was delivered to us when we decided to "opt out". By doing what we were told to do, that is about as good as common sense as there is, isn't it? If you want to be part of the Disney trash police, for those who opt out, good luck !

I'm talking about open food trays with half eaten meals laying outdoors over night. Sorry. But leaving open food outside your door with exterior walkways is not common sense. And yeah, I guess you could call me the trash police cause I've learned it's better to scoop up someone else's tray and bring it to the food court if I'm walking by, rather than attract rodents to people's doors.

I opted out on my last trip at POFQ. I traveled solo at that time and I am not messy. I also bring my own bed sheets that I take care of and really do not want housekeeping touching them. Any trash that I had, I bagged up and took it with me and dumped it in the garbage can on the way to the food court. If I needed an extra towel, I just asked for it. But even if it was my girls and I, it would be the same thing. We are not messy and can take a bag of garbage with us when we leave the room. As for towels, we wash our towels weekly at home. I don't see why it would be different at WDW. After all, you are just drying your clean body with them, they should not be that dirty really.

Our stay at AASports last November without Mousekeeping gave us $70.00. My DD also did the same and was given $70.00. We used it for one of our TS that we do Out of Pocket and it was well worth it for us. Mousekeeping was always there when we needed more towels and other bathroom essentials.

If I am there a week, I may ask for a single day, midway through. I know at home I don't make my bed every day. I also know at home I don't wash my towels every day. No need to feel entitled to this on vacation.

I certainly agree with the idea of no housekeeping, but I do like to have fresh dry towels. Seems to me the towels are always damp and don't dry in between uses.

So is this something you are offered when you check in or do you have to ask. We are staying next week at a value. We are used to staying offsite at airbnb’s Do we are used to keeping the room clean.

We did online check-in so we had to go to guest services to ask for it on day one. If you do regular check-in and it's not offered, I'd still ask about it!

We were just at Pop and declined housekeeping. When I asked about getting fresh towels throughout our stay she actually went to the back and brought us a stack before we even went to our room. We did reuse some but had enough fresh towels to last us our trip without having to ask for more. We didn’t have any issues with ours not drying between uses.

- Values and Moderates only.
- Was much more but now only $10 per night minus the last night which they have to clean.
- Signs are on the check in counters, you can request it then.
- You will get a email with an e-gift card within hours.
- You might not see it so search for "Gift"
- You will need to call to get more towels delivered
- Take your trash to big bins to dispose
- Be prepared, you will be put on the Security Room Check list, so leave nothing out

Did it last trip, will never do it again.

Curious as to why you wouldn't do it again?

Curious as to why you wouldn't do it again?

- The daily security checks either before we were up/out of room or when we came back later to rest were unacceptable. We were gone plenty long for them to do it while we were gone but it seemed quite deliberate to do while we were there.
- I missed have a nicely made bed, I'm on vacation I didn't enjoy making them up each day. Silly I know.
- I missed having my sheets changed part way through.
- I didn't enjoy hauling my trash all the way to the elevator bins each day.
- I was not offered towels at front desk, calling for towels didn't get us enough and grabbing the ones at pool - they were much cheaper and rough.
- This meant no cup or coffee/tea refills and no new bag for ice bucket (which we use) although they have gotten slack about that anyway.
- I was at POP, and those floors are hard to keep clean. We are very neat all adults ... and the floor got dirty so fast.
- Vacation. I don't want to do extra work and have to initiate any supplies, AND still be bothered each day, wasn't worth it.
- I am low maintenance and very clean in hotels, but I found I still like that extra cleaning to come back to each night.

We stayed at Pop for 5 nights at the begining of March. We arrived late at night and declined housekeeping, got our $40 gift card via email fairly. The next day nothing was done in our room but then the following 3 days, we got back in the evening and beds were made, towels changed, etc. It was a pretty good deal for us! We did empty our trash before leaving each morning, we would just take the bag and drop it off in the big trash cans on our way to the bus. Even if they hadn`t come though, we could have called at any time for towels, toiletteries or anything like that we needed in the room, I asked that at check-in. For a trip where you know you won`t be in the room much like ours was, I thought declining housekeeping was a good value.

Ohh, fair enough. Good to know about POP floors.

My opinion may be swayed if we had that issue with security checks. We went last fall so maybe they weren't doing them yet or just never did it while we were in the room. Couple questions:
Did they knock first or just randomly open the door for these checks? Also, what did they do once in your room, just a quick look around??

I'm interested too. We have a 2 night reservation at ASSports and will be in the parks open to close. We would gladly take a $20 gift card for such a short stay.
You'd only get $10. It is the number of nights minus one.

I stayed at POP in October, had online check-in (room was ready upon arrival early), but stopped by the front desk to pay off my room and ask about the offer. I was shown the laminated card and opted in. A few hours later, I had the $80 GC. I was alone for 1/2 of the stay. My biggest complaint, being in a new room, was there are no brooms. Even with it only being me for 5 days, there was a good amount of stuff on the floor, but the time my friend arrived. Thankfully, that was a day they came in to clean. I did have to call for extra coffee, which they fully supplied, but then I had to call for extra cups once friend arrived. I am heading back in a month with my daughter. I am on the fence, only because my daughter suffers with anxiety and I am not sure the $80 is worth the risk of the room being targeted more than others. I will have to let her make that call.

If you opted out of housekeeping, they didn't clean during your stay.

You'd only get $10; one night doesn't count because they'd have to clean up anyhow for the next guest.

It was midway through, around day 4-5 out of 8 days/9 nights. It might have changed since October, but they did come in midweek for me. I knew they had been there because I suddenly had a boatload of shampoo and soaps.

I don’t think they do anymore. We just returned from a 10 night stay and they didn’t clean our room. I agree a broom would be nice. The floor was probably my only issue with declining housekeeping.
