Deckerts????

Has anyone rented a wheelchair or ECV from Deckert's? How are the prices? Will they drop it off at your hotel before you arrive, or do you need to be there when they drop it off? What are your experiences with there services?


We will need to rent a wheelchair for my mother in sept and we are staying at the DLH. Just wanted to know what you fellow DISers thought.

We had a great experience with Deckerts. DH needed an ECV, he had just had knee surgery prior to our trip. I would say their prices are comparable to other companies we checked out. They delivered it to our hotel, it was waiting for us when we arrived. Then we just called when we were done and they came to pick it up. Easy as pie, they were very friendly on the phone too. I would recommend an ECV over a wheelchair, pushing someone around the park all day would be very tiring! Hope that helps.

I want to do an ecv... but my mother has it in her head that she would not be able to control it. I'm gonna try and get her to practice on the ones in the grocery store.

Though a wheekchair is more budget friendly. I don't know

I second the ECV. Another company I have used is OC Medical. They now have a location directly across the street from the Main Entrance on Harbor--it is called "Scooter Village" and is in the Ramada Maingate. I've been using them recently because I think their equipment is newer.

I think most of the local companies charge around $40 a day (as opposed to the $45 that Disney charges).

This is where the dilemma of budget comes in... I have been told that they are usually significantly cheaper than renting them at DL. If this is not the case, then we will go with a wheelchair regardless. I can stand pushing a wheelchair, It's not hard. I just don't want to have to have that responsibility if I can avoid it.

Dekert gave me a quote as 175.00 for 7 days scooter rental. there real nice and I think there the cheapest. thats an awesome price for 1 week!!! thats only 25.00 a day!!

you bet hon I just called them to confirm, and yep its 175.00 a week.

I've reserved an ECV from OC Medical. They gave me a quote of $200 for 8 nights. I thought that was pretty reasonable seeing that the parks charge something like $40 a day.

We had a great experience renting an ECV from Deckert's for my dad in 2007. They delivered it right to the hotel before we got there and picked it up within an hour of when we called to say we were done with it. It was in great shape and my dad didn't have any problems with it.

By the way, we were glad we had it at the hotel instead of renting one at the parks each day. We stayed at the Park Vue Inn which is right at the crosswalk to the entry plaza. But my dad said the walk to the front gate would have been too much for him. He has diabetes and his legs are always sore. He was very glad to be able to ride the ECV directly from the hotel room and then all around the parks.

They called me today and were very nice!! He said they had more scooters then anyone else in orange county and that they would meet dekerts price. I agreed to go with them if they would meet dekerts price and there for I am now doing these guys. why? because if there close, and they will match the price of dekerts, and he says there scooters are newer then I will try them

just curious--so what price are you getting?

and the other one........ 175.00 ( they are willing to meet the dekerts price

I have a member of my party needing an ecv and she wasnt to rent from DLR. She called them and they said she could keep it for the week and take it to and from the dtd and to our hotel at pph. BUT when i called to confirm that today with PPH, they said that DLR rentals are for park use only and are per day first come first serve. Can i get a confermation on this please???

I am trying to convice her to go with OC medical.

there is n o way she can get an ECV for her own personnel use and take it to down town disney. I think they have wheel chairs you can use if you are staying on grounds, but no way a EVC. There for park use only and can not even cross the esplanade to DCA . You have to take a ticket to DCA to show you have a DVC in disneyland and get a new one there. oh and if your lucky they have one in DCA its first come first serve all thru the parks
The rental place is across the park, she can rent for way less then disneyland and take it where she wants
