First time Disney cruiser here. We're on the 11/1 Magic cruise. We booked at cat.9 room, and found out that our travel agent didn't get us the Deck 2 room we asked for. Instead, we're on Deck 1. Anybody stay down there? How bad is it? Pros and cons?

I already know about the porthole difference. I'll be cruising with my DW and DS (3) (it's his first cruise ever).

Should I call my agent and try to change rooms?

Deck 1 has fewer cabins than any other deck on the ship. It's very quite, and great for getting on/off at ports-o-call.

Friends of ours have cruised twice & loved Deck 1. They had the little Portholes, but it was very quiet down there, fewer staterooms. They were the first off the ship on Port Days- no waiting for elevators... Very easy for back on the ship too...

I have sailed twice on Deck 1....it really is a great location. Aside from having a smaller porthole, you can't tell the difference from any other deck. As soon as you walk into the hallway they all look the same. It is not like you are in the basement of the ship or anything.

It is extremely convenient to getting on and off the ship in ports (except Port Canaveral where you get on and off on Deck 3). It is very close to the atrium with Guest Service, photo ops, dining rooms, shopping, clubs. etc. Never had a problem getting an elevator. We liked the location very much and that is comparing it to Decks 8,7, 5, & 2 that we have also stayed on.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Not a single negative comment - I guess I'll stop worrying and leave things as they are.

3 weeks until we sail! pirate:
