I think things will be a go for a trip to the world for the 1st week of Dec. 2003. My problem is where to stay. There will be 5 of us (me, mom, my sis, and my 2 dd's 11 & 5 then). My mom is set on Deluxe(I won't complain). The Poly is our favorite BUT we don't care for the xmas decorations there. We love the decorations at the GF BUT are the rooms too small for all of us???? We were also thinking about the BWI BUT we love the convenience of the monorail and we MK is the favorite park. HELP!!!!! Any suggestions?? We will be doing the parks but they close early that time of year so we will have more resort time. We love the decorations and will most likely resort hop to see them all. Any opinions on what we should do??

Are you SURE the rooms at GF are too small? There are 2 queen size beds. You & your Mom, your 2 girls, and the nice comfy daybed for your sister!

Pictures of the room.

Hope this helps.

I understand what you are saying.. I have thought the rooms seemed smaller to me at the GF... You did not mention the Contemporary...how about that one.. I know the convenience of staying on the Monorail.. one you do not like to give up..It is shame that the Poly does not really get into decorating for Christmas.. I do love its location.. How about contacting the GF and seeing if they have any larger rooms and requesting that...Good luck

Thanks for the pictures! The rooms do look amazing. Were you near the lobby? Did your lagoon view have a view of the castle? Thanks for your quick response!

Are you sure you can still get in any of those places? It's getting close and they may not all be left! Someone posted the second week is all full everywhere! Oh sorry, I see now you said 2003! I better pay more attention.

Hi, We(my family of 5) have stayed at the GF and also been there during Christmas, there decorations are AMAZING! We stayed in a corner room,1st floor with a view of the Castle. The room had plenty of space for all of us! I think the corner location may have given us a little more space because we had 2 balconies to step out onto.I think the GF would be an excellent choice for Christmas.Did you know that they have a FULL size gingerbread house in the lobby? And with your ALL girl vacation, tea would be just the thing to do!!My only thought would be give the daybed to the youngest child and the adults and older child the queen beds.Have fun planning! Joan

Are the daybeds at the GF regular twin size like at the Poly? That would help.
Mackey Mouse- The theming at the Contemporary isn't for us although we do make it to Chef Mickey every trip!
DWMouser- I wish it was for 2002 but the trip is for 2003. I need some time to save some money.

Anyone know what kind of discounts they offered this year at any of these resorts? I know they will be different next year but at least it would be a rough idea.

The Contemporary has the largest rooms of any deluxe resort. (approx. 440 sq ft) I believe I've read the GF is second largest followed closely by the Poly, YC, BC, and BWI. (all ranging around 385-420 sq ft) Then AKL at 360 sq ft and WL at 340 sq ft.

Have you thought about renting points for a DVC resort?? A 2 bedroom villa would be perfect for your group. It would give you 1 king bed, 2 queens, and a pull out sleeper sofa. Also a full kitchen, dining area, living room, jacuzzi, private laundry, porch, 2 full bathrooms, they are awesome!!! :)

Good Luck planning! ;)

The larger rooms at the Poly seem much roomier than GF rooms to us. They are 440sq. ft., I believe. At the GF, part of the sq footage is in the vanity area, I think. Not very useful space.

We love both resorts but with five people in one room I think I'd go with the Poly and visit the GF often...lunch, dinner, etc. Those two resorts are so easy to get back and forth. The rooms themselves at the GF aren't decorated differently for Christmas...unless you do it yourself!:D

We thought our room at the BWI was smaller than the one we were in at the GF. At the BWI we hade 3 adults and 2 kids and we were comfy. I am partial to the GF, it is our favorite so I would say stay there. The X-Mas decos. are the best IMO, and if you plan to be at the MK mostly, than I would pick the GF over the BWI. This year there are AP rates from 11/3-12/19 for the GF it is $189 per night garden view. Check out this link for the rates that are available now so you can get an idea of what might be available next year.

Tshanks for the link Desnik. I was looking for that information. Anyone have a waterview room for first week of December? What kink of a rate di you get this year? If I'm going to spend the money, I think waterview is worth the extra(provided it's not too much extra)hahaha!
