Decisions, decisions - a DREAM is a WISH your heart makes

So considering either of two dates (2/5-2/9, or 2/26-3/1..not sure if that’s spring break) on Wish. I like the idea of a shorter cruise (4 nights) to save more of my precious paid days off, plus despite mixed reviews, I like a lot of what I’m reading about Wish. The restaurants and food choices seem more interesting to me (And the Enchante 5 dessert special...yum !), Aquamouse seems like a lot of fun, and my nephew (who works at DS and is a Disney nut loves it)

On the other hand, Dream leaves from Fort Lauderdale, a MUCH easier departure point for me. Plus, I so love having that extra day (one cruise has 2 days at CC) so it’s more leisurely - I love cruises. I think Remy has the 5 dessert special, too? Most people seem to love the Dream ..that’s a point in its favor.

I’m not overly picky ...I don’t care about the lack of a full track on Wish (I get why many do), and I don’t necessarily care about huge adult areas. I know I‘ll be happy no matter what

Thoughts? Yes, some of this is also in another thread, sorry for repeating myself...

Thanks !!!

I will almost always choose the longer cruise. Haha. Especially if it has a Castaway double dip. Having done the dessert experiences at Remy and at Enchante, they were basically the same (in quality. They did have different desserts.)

I would do the Dream one because of the double dip. But we have been on the Dream 3 times and the Wish once and my whole family preferred the Wish. I was surprised because based on reviews I was scared we would be disappointed, but we all loved it. It’s a beautiful ship. DH and I much preferred the bars on the Wish. 4 nights on the Wish did feel short, a 5 night would have been just right.

Have you done one ship and not the other? Consider sailing on the one you haven’t yet for a different experience.

The food on the Wish is generally excellent with good variety up on deck.

The dessert experience is excellent on both ships with only one dessert that overlapped for us between the two.

Either way you will have a great time.

I get it! I don’t want to get off the cruise thinking I should have done more days, and even though I doubt I’d need to spend all day both days at CC, it’s still so appealing....

Glad to hear that Remy’s dessert experience is as good as Enchante - I love these kinds of things on land, and on sea it will be even better,,,

Thank you!

I think that proves that people shouldn’t be dissuaded by bad reviews. There are always good ones to counteract those, and ultimately we all should make up our own minds. What’s good to one person might be bad to another, and vice versa.

For my first Disney Cruise, I’m starting to think that longer is better...and, as I live in South Florida, I can go on a shorter cruise at any time. Plus, I‘ve got cruise envy of my family, lol. They’re all going on a week’s Cruise (not Disney) the week of Thanksgiving to celebrate my brother‘s 60th birthday, but I can’t go because I used up all my days off before the end of May, between being sick and going to WDW, where I got COVID. I NEED to go on a cruise, lol.

The one double dip Cruise is March 17-22, so during Spring Break. How bad is that cruise likely to be?

How are the shows on Dream? Is Aquaduck like Aquamouse (which looks so cool)?

Thank you !

I’ve never been on a Disney Cruise! When I lived in NY, if I wanted to do Disney, it was always WDW for me - and even then, I didn’t go that often. Now I have Sorcerer’s pass and will be taking advantage of that. Living in South FL now, I can do all sorts of cruises, and I’m so excited !

I suspect I’m going to end up on the Dream because of the longer trip...Wish isn’t going anywhere, I can do that anytime.

The Wish rotation dining choices seem more interesting, but would you say you enjoyed the Dream ones as well? I think Palo is a must for me regardless..maybe Remy dinner, too, since I love French food.

Thank you!

We were on the Wish in June. Liked the ship, had a great time but 4 nights was not enough time. I prefer at longer cruise.

Agree with most of the PPs to go for the longer cruise. Both ships are great and you'll enjoy them.

I wont get into the Wish/Dream debate because it seems you know a lot about both and what is important to you. So ship aside, if FT Lauderdale is an easier departure port for you and you get a longer cruise with a Double Dip, I would say go for that!

I do love a double dip and the Dream is a great ship. I'm doing a 5 day in Feb myself. However if you like the idea of a 4 day and haven't been on the Wish, I would do that. I absolutely loved the Wish and preferred it to the Dream. Its quite different but I really think you'll enjoy it.

I haven’t even considered 7 nights, but I see the Fantasy does 7 - and they go to the VI. I’ve always wanted to go there..sigh. And, the Saturday to Saturday cruise means I still only have to take 5 days off..yeah it’s PC, but I could manage it.

Has anyone taken the Eastern Caribbean cruise on Fantasy?

thank you !

Thank you! I need to remember that, whatever I choose, I can always do the other some other time - it’s not as if I’ll never get a chance to do another DC....just make a decision and stick with it, lol

I Think the Wish might be better for me after I’ve done a longer cruise...because right now I feel like I’d regret choosing a shorter cruise. Once I’ve satisfied my need for that weeklong cruise, then, I can take shorter cruises as almost mini-vacations. But, my gut tells me that whenever I do go on the Wish, I’ll love it.

Thank you!

We actually did the Dream for our last Spring Break trip 2023 and it was also the Disney Plus offer, but I did not find it any more crowded than our previous cruises. The pools are always people soup—that is the one area that it gets annoyingly crowded for me.

DH and DD said the AquaDuck and AquaMouse are very similar. The AquaMouse on the Wish is a bit more high tech with the screens doing the cartoon short, but they felt both were fun and didn’t strongly prefer one over the other.

Beauty and the Beast on the Dream is great. We also really enjoy Believe—it actually makes me cry a bit, and the Genie in Believe has always been stellar. The Golden Mickeys on the Dream is ok, we skipped it the last time.

Thank you! I probably wouldn’t be able to truly enjoy Aquamouse since I’d have to protect my glasses, lol

Looks like Believe is also on the Fantasy, so that’s good to know...

We've been on the Fantasy Eastern Caribbean cruise twice. Was on the Merrytime Cruise 12/22, on board Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We had such a great time.

Great to hear! I‘ve read up on this board about possible excursions, and I just need to do this cruise...!

Loooove it! I've done Eastern Caribbean itineraries on the Fantasy three times now, the most recent being just two weeks ago. Tortola is my favorite Caribbean port. One of those EC itineraries was a rarer one (San Juan and St. Maarten), which we also enjoyed (makes me realllllly tempted to take the Tortola/San Juan 7-night on the Treasure in Feb 2025!).

Anyway, I digress. The Fantasy is my favorite ship, and I love 7-night itineraries because you get a good mix of sea days and ports. And Eastern Caribbean is great.
