I recently booked a vacation in November with the Standard Disney Dining (1TS; 1QS; 1SNK) for budget reasons. However, I recall last time I went with this plan, we ran out of snacks and TS meals by our 5th day.

Is it worth it to upgrade??? And, Is it much more expensive.

It is expensive. Over $900 for 5 days. But, if that is how you want to enjoy your vacation, then it is worth it. We did DxDP earlier this year and are going to try it again in October. We are doing a character breakfast in the morning, and then a dinner show or signature dining in the evening. The dds (8,6) get to eat snacks for lunch - how cool is that?

We have CRT, Artist Point, HDDR, SOA.

We run into the same problem each year on the regular dining plan. So this year we are trying the deluxe plan for the first time. I'm just tired of trying to figure out which to pay for out of pocket, and having to not do a particular meal because we would go over our allotment. I know it's a lot of money, but we got the 40% pin code for our room, so that saved us money. I am just looking forward to eating wherever we want to, and not having to worry about anything.

For the regular times of year without the surcharge the price difference is $30 per adult per night and $9 per child per night.

I did the figures and it was around $260 more to upgrade to Deluxe for our 4 night stay. I knew we would run out of snacks and probably have to pay for a meal or 2 OOP, so that got the difference down to $160. Then DH decided he wants to try to get a dinner package for the candlelight processional, which is 2 TS credits. We also have one meal at CRT and a couple of other character meals, so we went ahead and upgraded. We went deluxe for our March 2009 trip and it is a LOT of food, but I think we will actually come out the same $wise and we'll certainly never be hungry!

When we did the dinning plan we paid for some TS OOP and had leftover for CS. We don't eat much CS. So when I looked at all are ADR's it made more sense to get the DxDDP...we were going to ate certain restaurants that are 2credits.

Also, it may or may not matter to you, but the refillable mugs do not come with the regular dining plan, only QS or Deluxe...weird, huh?! I called to confirm, thought maybe it was a typo, but the CM checked with a supervisor and said they are not on the regular plan.

You might consider the idea of doing the Quick Service plan, which gets you 2 counter service meals per day, plus 2 snacks plus the refillable mug then just pay out of pocket for the extra table service meals you might want? You would save money by not having to "tip" for 2 table service meals per day, and the difference between the Deluxe and the QSDP is approx. $40 per adult per day. Breakfast and lunch table service would also be the least expensive way to go out of pocket. While I love eating at the many table service restaurants, the QSDP has a certain appeal, since you wouldn't be tied to ADR's and you could eat wherever and whenever you wanted. However if you really want to do 3 sitdown meals each day, then go for the deluxe plan. Just be aware that it is alot of food each day, but maybe that is what you want. Have fun planning!
