Decided to join WW

Well, actually, my doctor convinced me it's the way to go for me. I don't have a ton of weight to lose but my cholesterol is high and she said it would teach me portion control.
I have always thought I eat healthy but I can not diet. I like food too much - who doesn't. ;) I figured that with WW at least I still get to eat good food but just smaller portions. I think I am going to try the online program since I am not a big "meetings" person but I am going to see if they have any specials coming up. Does anyone know if they run specials on the net?
 
I also am doing WW online. I really like it. I don't know if they do specials online or not, but I do know that for my area it was a lot cheaper to do it online than to attend meetings. So, it just worked out better for me. Good luck with your decision.

Stacey - I'm not a big meetings person either, but I do go. I've found from past experience that it really helps to keep me motivated. I read a lot on the message board at WW also, but there is something different about being in a meeting. I don't participate a whole lot, mainly just the couple of times I've been recognized for my 5 lb losses. It is great to see other people being recognized for their losses too-a great motivator.

WW definitely will make you watch your portion control. I notice that what I used to eat is probably about 3-4 times as much as a normal portion should be. :(

Good luck with the program and getting your cholestrol down. (Thats one of my goals also).
 

Good for you. I lost 40 pounds 4 years ago (but after a child, I've gain half of it back). I've tried other diets & it's by far the best because it's the most realistic. There is NO WAY I could diet without at least an occasional ice cream or pasta & bread. I'm getting ready to start back myself. Meetings can be helpful if you have a good leader (which I did the first time), but since I've moved I'm not super impressed with the local meetings, so I may try the online route. It's nice, though, to get that IMMMEDIATE recognition of weight loss & goals reached - especially when it's announced in room full of people. It can be VERY gratifying. One thing that worked for me is that one day a week, provided I lost that week at weigh in, was that I had one free meal for the week. It made me feel like I had "permission" to "fall off the wagon" just for one meal a week & not feel guilty. It still worked & that one meal kept me going! Good luck!!!!princess:
