decent hotel for first night?

We're driving from the north Dallas area and will be checking into AK Kidani Village on Sunday 3/14. We are leaving LATE Friday night/EARLY Saturday morning and will drive as far as we can. The plan as of now is to try to make it to tallahassee and then continue on to WDW EARLY Sunday morning. But I guess there's a chance we might want to just keep on driving into the Orlando area. If so, can someone recommend a decent hotel for just one night? Preferably something along our route so not going out of our way to get there (after 17 hours of driving, don't want to drive any more than we have to!) I believe we'll be coming down the Florida Turnpike to 27 to 192? Oh,and there are 7 of us, so we need 2 rooms. Therefore, don't want to spend more than $100 per room (absolute MAX, really would prefer something in the $50-80 range per room). Just something clean where we can get a decent night's sleep before continuing on to our final destination.

TIA!

What about POP Century if you make it to Orlando?

Pop (or any of the values) would be good except the rate is $140/night right now. :scared1: If we could get an AP discount, we would consider it, but I doubt we'd be able to do that. And we don't want to make any non-refundable ressies... right now I have a hotel booked in Tallahassee that I won't be charged for if we cancel before 6:00 p.m. that day. We'll definitely know before then whether we'll make it all the way to Disney or not. So since most of the hotels won't let us cancel that close to arrival, I'm hoping to have a few choices that I can call that day and hopefully have some availability. Can't seem to find any that will let us cancel THAT day. Most of what I have found, we'd have to cancel by Friday.

You can always try Priceline or Hotwire. I just booked a room at the Ramada Inn Celebration which is just across I-4 from WDW for $29 a night. I've stayed there before and it was fine.

You might also try the Gainesville or Ocala areas. They are one the way and only about an hour or two from Disney.

We moved from the Dallas area and I can tell you that it is a looooooooooong drive. My advice would be to do yourself a favor and stay in Tallahasee or even stop before then - we usually stop near Pensacola when we're coming back from visits.

However, if you do want to drive through you should check out travelzoo.com. They have the Doubletree Castle on International Drive (very close to WDW) for $49/nt and it's a very nice hotel.
