Hi Kathy
Welcome
Christmas at Disney is a wonderful experience,,(yes busy) but so much fun.:santa:
Maybe post your dates and where you are staying?
Have a look at here--Oct is posted and I'm sure Dec will be posted soon.

Our Christmas
We wore matching green and red t-shirts--good to spot everyone.
Bought Santa hats and sewed pom poms on for Mickey ears.
Remember to bring a sweater or hoodie as it can be chilly even in Florida.

Decide which Parks you are going to.
Make a few Advanced Dining Reservations
Choose 3 must Do's for each Park.
I have always found (EMH) extra Magic hour,,,mornings beneficial for my guys.

We are looking at the first week in december 2017. Honestly i have no idea where we will be staying.
currently debating on Port orleans Riverside, Art of Animation, All star Music. Or possibly staying offsite at the holiday inn (the old Nickelodeon resort)

Is it worth the extra $$ to stay onsite with our exchange rate being as awful as it is?
Also planning 2 days at universal and 5 days at the disney parks. and 1-2 days relaxing at the hotel and exploring other disney areas!

Are you flying in or driving. If flying and you stay onsite you can use Magic Express and save yourself the car rental. Uber over to Universal those days. The first week of December is a great time to go. Lots of pre-Christmas things to do. I've stayed at both Port Orleans Riverside and All Star Music (family suite) they will both work for your family.

I will PM you the name of a website that has a great booklet on the Chirstmas season at Disney (good place to start your planning). Sign up for their newsletter. Lots of ineresting info and great photos.

We would be flying!! from edmonton-toronto-orlando
Unless we somehow luck out and get direct flights !!

I fly from YEG too and unfortunately there are no direct flights...I also go the first week every December and going this Dec 1-11 :) I'm flying Delta and connecting in Minneapolis (much prefer to Toronto)...stay on site! You won't regret it. WDW is a whole diff kettle of fish. The non-disney hotels are not across the street like at DL. The closest would be to stay at Bonnet Creek. I looked into non-disney hotels and many have restrictive shuttles to WDW and you can be caught up in traffic. Also if you stay off site and have a rental car you have to pay for parking at WDW. If you buy stuff in the gift shops they will shuttle it back to your room if staying on disney property. Just have to decide if the extra $$$ is worth it for you. For me it is as I'd rather save time :)
