December WISH Thread: 'tis the season... for healthy living

I am thankful for my eyes finally being stable. They have been changing a lot since the cruise so now that they haven't changed for a month, I am getting knew lenses. So in the mean time I am wear an older pair and they are really bothering my eyes and I can't read a thing because my readers are less.

I am also thankful that it sounds like the antibody replacement therapy for DD will be approved and she will start after the first of the year.

Today is my last day of work until January 6th. We have nothing going on at work either. I have wrapped gifts and prepped for cookie baking too. We will visit DH's grandmother this after noon, after work and then the rest of the weekend will be getting the house cleaned and prepping for Tuesday. I do have Jazzercise in the morning.

Hello Everyone!!! Hoping back on to celebrate Friday!

I babysat only my granddaughter this morning, my niece was sick! This afternoon we went to my nephews 3rd grade class reading of the story of Christmas. They did so good! I cried at his reading, I can’t believe how big he is and hearing him talk about Jesus just made me tear up!! I came home and wrapped all afternoon.

Tomorrow I am babysitting my grandaughter while the kids go Christmas shopping. I have to prep dough in the evening for the cookie party Sunday.

Sunday is church in the morning and cookie party all afternoon!! Luckily (almost) all my friends are Eagles fans so we will be watching the game while we bake!!

Cookie prep was not quite as successful as I would have hoped as my MIL couldn’t hang out tonight due to snow. The forecast was for an inch with is nothing in RI but it ended up being a few inches and showed up a few hours earlier than originally forecast. Oh well just have to hustle tomorrow.
Unfortunately two of DH’s relatives have been in the hospital the last few days. His uncle had a couple seizures so he went in for observation and is hopefully headed home tonight or tomorrow with some brandy new meds. His grandmother not such an easy fix. She is in the hospital on antibiotics for a potential infection in her leg. Unfortunately she will likely have to be discharged to a rehab center which will go over like a lead balloon with her. Just hope neither of them pick up anything worse in the hospital than the thing they were admitted for.

Happy Saturday!! It’s hard to believe next week at this time all the hustle will be over and we will be looking at 2025!!!

For Social Saturday-what is your favorite Christmas movie?! Mine is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation!! Followed by a Christmas Story-which we only watch during Christmas Eve/Christmas Day! But I have watched Christmas Vacation about 10 times so far this year!!

Followed by a Christmas Story-which we only watch during Christmas Eve/Christmas Day!
We watch that too!

I love a lot of Christmas movies - Miracle on 34th St., It's a Wonderful Life, etc.

But the one I always seem to watch the most times each year is an old Hallmark movie called Journey Back to Christmas.

Okay, so I am at the stage of, “I don’t know what day it is…” and just realized that it might be my turn to host the thread. Well, like everyone else, I am quite overwhelmed. I already have an out of state guest and more coming tomorrow. So, I will be signing off until the 26th and if necessary, I can host through the new year. I have no idea if anyone took next week.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!🎄☃️❤️💚🎅🏼🤶🏼🥂🕯️❄️IMG_5338.jpeg

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and Happy Whatever Day This Is to all!
Catching up... the cabin was perfection, such a beautiful area. It is just an hour and a half away from me and I live in the woods, but it has an another worldly (and very Scottish) vibe.

Since getting back I've pretty much just been binge watching Deadwood, altho I did go into town yesterday for lunch and then walked at the beach. In the evening, I went to listen to live jazzy Christmas music at one of the hotels, which was lovely.
This morning cinnamon rolls are in the oven and my tea is steeping. It's pretty meh outside right now, hopefully it'll get better during the day else I'll just bundle up and go for a walk any way. Yesterday I signed up for a class from Om that gives 52 walking meditations and want to get started with them. Then its back to finishing Deadwood, I've got a couple episodes and the movie to go.

And Happy Welcoming back the Light. We're getting back about 2 minutes per day and halleluiah for that!

THANKFUL🎄THURSDAY

IMG_5381.jpeg

I’m thankful for the day after Christmas mess! I’m so grateful for the time with my extended family especially my nephew and great niece. These rare moments are truly a gift. My DD and great niece are 13 years apart…the same age difference between my nephew and I. They are getting closer now that my great niece is a teenager. DD gave my great niece and I the Taylor Swift Midnights cardigan sweater for Christmas, so we got a cute photo of the three of us being multigenerational triplets.

I am thankful for my health and my healthy family so that we could all be together on Christmas. I will never forget 2020 when we were just the three of us stuck at home watching church and talking to family on zoom. The following year we had Covid and Christmas was the 10th day of illness, so we had Christmas socially distant on our front lawn for 30 minutes. It was heartbreaking. This year I wasn’t able to sing as my vocal cords are still in recovery from two colds in three weeks. But it’s okay. We were together. We were healthy, and that’s everything.

Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope everyone enjoyed their day! It sounds like a lot of memories were made and good times had by everyone!!

We had a great Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! Lots of family time, food and laughs. Our granddaughters first Christmas and she was terribly overwhelmed with our big extended family celebration on Christmas Eve but absolutely delightful yesterday with our “small” gathering of just our kids and grandkids (there are 10 of us now…but this is small for us lol)

Today I have taken a walk, did some laundry and cleaned up appropriately 192 pounds of cardboard from around the house. While I adore online shopping the recycling part quickly becomes overwhelming especially with a big family at Christmas!!!

I'm back to "working" today and I think I am the only one. I've sorted thru the emails that came in while I was out and sent the notification that I'm taking time off next week and that's really all I have to do today. I think I'm going to find some TED Talks to watch, and I'm thankful to have to work time to do so.

I'm thankful to have not lost power or internet during the windstorm yesterday, yes, another one. The coming week looks to be wet but not windy, also thankful for that.

And thankful for another long holiday weekend, as I've decided to take Mon/Tues of next week off as well.

I could have slept all day but alas DS9 had the orthodontist this morning bright and early. Thankful the treatment is working. He needs at minimum one more month of headgear but the adjustment is moving in the right direction.
Took the day off and it has been all laundry all day and putting away the kids gifts from Christmas. I love the Christmas mess quote @Summer2018 we actually used it on a Christmas card when DS12 was still the only kid in the house!
Pretty much all the stuff has found a home but the cardboard has not. Tomorrow is trash/recycling day so after that gets picked up it will get filled again.
Putting away clothes I realized I need to do another closet clean out…maybe I’ll start that on my lunch breaks when working from home…we’ll see. Good excuse to get away from the computer!

FREE FOR ALL FRIDAY

As we all recover from the holidays, and we start thinking about how we will maneuver through the new year, I think it would be fun to post memes or quotes from social media that are inspirational and/or funny today and on Social Saturday.

Me in a nutshell lately, and yet when I've been out around people it has felt really good, so I need to start making more of an effort to break out of hibernation mode.

I've recently fallen in love with a clothing line called Sezane that only runs most of their styles up to size 14, so I'm using that as the inspiration to get myself turned around and going in the right direction. I've reduced dairy and next is to work on sugar and overall caloric intake. When the Christmas tree comes down in a couple days, I'll arrange things so that I have exercise space to do YouTube videos and outdoor walks are just going to have to be in the wet and dark for the time being. I've admitted to the weight I've put on and ordered some joggers and tops in a larger size, so no more excuse of not having the right things to wear for being out of doors.
